FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

State Route 1
Culvert Replacement Projects on State Route 1 North of Jenner

Sonoma County – Caltrans has two culvert replacement projects on State Route 1 north of Jenner. A culvert is a drainage pipe that crosses under the highway.

The first project is located about ten miles north of Jenner at Timber Gulch Creek. One way traffic signals have been activated at this location. Pipe ramming of a 9 ft. diameter steel casing will begin Wednesday morning, September 16, and will continue for about two weeks, weather permitting. Motorists may not see the large hammer work taking place below the roadway but will hear increased noise as they travel through the area. This is a very loud construction activity that will take place seven days per week, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The second culvert replacement project is located between Salt Point State Park and Stewarts Point. Construction is expected to begin on or after September 21 and continue for about one month. Construction activities include shoulder closures and one-way traffic control, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. If necessary, work will also be scheduled on weekends.

For all construction projects, please follow the direction of flaggers, drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
