SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has completed installing giant columns on Interstate-780 (I-780) as part of the Laurel Street Bridge Project.

I-780 Overnight Full Highway Closures-August 30 Closure Canceled
Crews completed installation of two giant bridge columns in the median of I-780 during the night of August 29, 2017. Since the installation is complete, Caltrans has canceled the overnight closure scheduled for August 30, 2017.

Project Overview
The old Laurel Street Bridge was demolished in June 2017 and is currently being rebuilt above westbound and eastbound I-780 in Vallejo.
The columns will support the new bridge deck and bring the new Laurel Street Bridge up to the latest seismic safety standards. The new bridge will be completed as early as winter 2017.
Upcoming I-780 Two Consecutive Night Closures Start September 6, 2017
Caltrans will next install the bridge’s vertical girders across I-780.

That work is scheduled Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7, 2017 starting at 10:00 PM each night until 5:00 AM the following mornings.

To ensure worker and public safety, Caltrans will close I-780 at Laurel Street.

Westbound I-780 will be closed on one of the two nights and eastbound I-780 will be closed on of the two nights. During the two nights, one traffic direction (either westbound or eastbound)
I-780 will remain open at all times.

Caltrans will make make an announcement as additional information becomes available.

Detours-Westbound I-780 to westbound/eastbound I-80, Curtola Parkway
Motorists traveling on westbound I-780 (from Benicia to Vallejo) will be detoured to exit I-780 at Glen Cove Road. Then proceed right onto northbound Glen Cove Road, left onto westbound Benicia Road, stay on Benicia Road for approximately 1½ miles, continue on westbound Benicia Road over the I-80/Benicia Road overcrossing, left onto southbound Lemon Street/ Motorists will then have the option to travel either right on westbound Curtola Parkway (towards Downtown Vallejo), or turn left onto eastbound Curtola Parkway to enter either westbound I-80 or eastbound I-80.

Detours-Eastbound Curtola Parkway to Eastbound I-780
Motorists traveling onto eastbound I-780 (from Downtown Vallejo to Benicia) will be detoured onto the exit loop off-ramp to eastbound I-80 from Curtola Parkway, stay left, then maintain the left lane toward the Frontage Road exit, right onto Lincoln Road East, then at the stop sign make an immediate left onto eastbound Benicia Road, continue on Benicia Road for approximately one-mile, right onto southbound Glen Cove Road and enter eastbound I-780 from Glen Cove Road.

Westbound and Eastbound I-80 to Eastbound I-780
Motorists traveling onto eastbound I-780 from westbound I-80 are advised to exit I-80 onto eastbound Benicia Road, southbound Glen Cove Road and enter eastbound I-780 from Glen Cove Road.

Laurel Street Bridge Closure-Long-Term Closure
The Laurel Street Bridge at I-780 was closed on Tuesday May 31, 2017. The bridge will remain closed continuously until construction of the new bridge is completed.
Local detours are in effect.

Lane Shifts

SONOMA COUNTY– As part of the continued progress of U.S.101 Marin-Sonoma Narrows Project, Caltrans will continue with traffic switches for both northbound and southbound U.S. 101, starting the week of August 28th. Northbound 101 is scheduled for Monday night (08/28/17) and southbound 101 is scheduled for Wednesday night (08/30/17).

• Southbound 101 will be detoured into the median.
• Northbound 101 detour will shift traffic to the right.
• The speed limit in this construction area has been reduced to 55 mph.
• Additional safety signage has been installed, as well as message boards (CMS) to warn motorists of the lane shift.
• Only Local traffic will be permitted to exit behind temporary safety barriers.
• Please be aware of local residence merging on to US-101.

Full Closure Of State Route 1 At Marin Sonoma County

MARIN/SONOMA COUNTIES– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will install precast concrete girders (beams) for the new Estero Americano Bridge located on State Route (SR) 1, southeast of the town of Valley Ford, in the unincorporated areas of Sonoma and Marin Counties. A full roadway closure of SR 1 starting Monday, August 28th at 6:00am will be required to complete this work, until the afternoon of Thursday, August 31st.

The detours are described as follows:

• Northbound SR 1 traffic originating from the town of Marshall will be detoured onto Tomales Petaluma Road/Tomales Road and Petaluma Valley Ford Road before reconnecting with SR 1, north of the Marin and Sonoma county line.

• Southbound SR 1 traffic originating from the town of Valley Ford will be detoured onto Petaluma Valley Ford Road and Tomales Road/Tomales Petaluma Road before reconnecting with SR 1, south of the Marin and Sonoma county line.

• Bicyclists will be detoured onto a separate route, please see map for detour plan.

One-Way Traffic Controls for Tree Trimming
Expect Delays-Two Consecutive Days
August 30 and August 31, 2017

NAPA COUNTY— The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be trimming eucalyptus trees on State Route 29 (SR-29) just north of St. Helena on two consecutive days.

The work is scheduled Wednesday, August 30 and Thursday, August 31 starting each day at 9:00 AM and will completed by 3:00 PM each day. All work is weather permitting.

August 30-SR-29 between Deer Park Road and Lodi Lane
Caltrans will be trimming trees on SR-29 between Deer Park Road and Lodi Lane on August 30.
To ensure public and worker safety, one-way traffic controls will be in effect. Crews will alternate lane closures in both northbound and southbound directions. This will allow one traffic lane on SR-29 to remain open during the work. Flaggers will help direct traffic.

August 31-SR-29 near Whitehall Lane
The work on August 31 will be performed on SR-29 just south of Whitehall Lane.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution as northbound lanes on SR-29 will be temporarily shifted to allow crews to complete the work. Southbound lanes will remain open.

Caltrans will trim overgrown eucalyptus trees along SR-29. This is part of Caltrans’ regular tree maintenance. No trees are scheduled to be removed.

Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.

Lane Reductions-During Mandatory Inspections
Wednesday, August 23, 2017
Expect Delays

SOLANO and SACRAMENTO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform mandatory inspections of the Rio Vista Bridge on State Route 12 (SR-12) between Solano and Sacramento Counties.

The one-day inspections are scheduled starting Wednesday, August 23 beginning at 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM that same day. All work is weather permitting.
The inspections are part of Caltrans’ preventive maintenance plan on the bridge.

During the inspections, motorists traveling across the Rio Vista Bridge on SR-12 may experience delays as crews conduct inspections with intermittent one-way traffic controls.

During one-way traffic controls, crews will alternate traffic in the eastbound and westbound directions on the bridge. This will allow one lane on the bridge to remain open during the inspections.

For boat and ship traffic, the bridge will operate normally for any vessels passing underneath it along the Sacramento River.

Overnight I-80 Full Highway Closures During Midway Bridge Demolition

SOLANO COUNTY— The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has completed its retrofit work on the Interstate-80 (I-80) Meridian Road Bridge and is scheduled to reopen the Meridian Bridge at approximately 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

After reopening the Meridian Bridge, Caltrans will shift work to the I-80 Midway Road Bridge and start the long-term closure of the Midway Bridge on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.

Both bridges are located above eastbound and westbound I-80 in and near the cities of Vacaville and Dixon in rural Solano County.

Midway Bridge To Close For Demolition and Rebuild -Starting September 6, 2017
Caltrans will completely CLOSE the I-80 Midway Road Bridge starting the morning of September 6 in preparation of its demolition and rebuild. Caltrans will release a more specific closure time as soon as additional information is available. The Midway Bridge will remain CLOSED until the new Midway Bridge is completed as early as spring 2018.

Project Benefits
This project retrofits the existing Meridian Road Bridge and will demolish and rebuild the Midway Road Bridge. The work seismically retrofits these bridges and brings them up to the latest seismic safety standards.

Midway Road Bridge Closure-Detour Routes
Shortly after the Meridian Road Bridge is reopened, Midway Road Bridge across I-80 will be closed continuously until spring-summer 2018. During the construction of the new Midway Road Bridge, the Meridian Road Bridge above I-80 and just west of the Midway Road Bridge will remain OPEN and serve as a general detour.

During the demolition of the Midway Road Bridge starting the night of September 9, 2017 until the morning of September 10, 2017, eastbound and westbound I-80 will be closed overnight at Midway Road. SOLANO COUNTY— The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform major pavement repair on State Route 37 (SR-37) between Skaggs Island and just west of State Route 121 (SR-121) in rural Solano County near the Solano-Sonoma County Line.

Overnight One-Way Traffic Controls-Start August 13
The five consecutive nights of work is scheduled to start on Sunday, August 13 until the morning of Friday, August 18. Work will start each night at 9:00 PM until 5:00 AM the following mornings.

Although no full highway closures are scheduled, motorists may experience delays as Caltrans repairs and repaves SR-37 with one-way traffic controls. This will allow one lane on SR-37 to remain open.

During one-way traffic controls, crews will alternate traffic in the eastbound and westbound directions. Motorists are advised to watch for slow traffic and flaggers. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will also help direct motorists. All work is weather permitting.

J-Mack Ferry-Underwater Cable Replacement
Weekend Morning Closure
Saturday, August 12, 2017 starting at 5:00 AM

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily close the J-Mack Ferry on State Route 220 (SR-220) in the Delta early Saturday morning to replace the underwater cable which the ferry runs on.

The J-Mack is scheduled to close starting Saturday, August 12 at 5:00 AM until 12:00 PM that same day.

The J-Mack Ferry runs on a cable across Steamboat Slough between Ryer Island in Solano County and Sacramento County.

The J-Mack, provides around the clock service on SR-220.

During the closure, motorists are advised to use the Real McCoy Ferry, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry along State Route 84 (SR-84) or the Miner Slough Bridge on SR-84.

Bridge Deck Resurfacing Project
Overnight Lane Closures
Starts Sunday, August 6, 2017

MARIN COUNTY— The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to start resurfacing the bridge decks on Highway 37 in Marin at Novato Creek and Petaluma River this Sunday.

The project consists of grinding off the old asphalt, repairing the concrete deck and place ment of a new polyester concrete deck.

The anticipated completion date for this work as scheduled is no later than the first week of September. There will be single night time lane closures as indicated in the schedule below motorists may experience minor delays. All work is weather permitting.

• Sun 8/6 – Work at Novato Creek Bridge: WB #1 lane 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. EB #1 lane 8 p.m. to 11 a.m.
• Mon 8/7 – Work at Novato Creek Bridge: WB #2 lane 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. EB #2 lane 8 p.m. to 11 a.m.
• Tue 8/8 – Work at Petaluma River Bridge: WB #1 lane 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

OVERNIGHT RAMP and LANE CLOSURES
NORTHBOUND/SOUTHBOUND INTERSTATE 880 AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS
IN OAKLAND
JULY 31 THROUGH AUGUST 5, 2017

Oakland/Alameda, Alameda County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled various lane closures and full freeway closure of northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) of Interstate 880 (I-880) from 5th Avenue to High Street in Oakland starting Monday, July 31 through Saturday, August 5, 2017, at various times and location to continue the removal of the steel girders and bridge overcrossing at the 23rd Avenue Overcrossing.

Closure information is as follows:
• Monday July 31st to Tuesday August 1st: from 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM: from 5th Avenue to High Street SB lanes #1 and #2 closed

• Tuesday August 1st to Wednesday August 2nd: from 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM: from 5th Avenue to High Street SB lanes #1 and #2; NB 29th Avenue on-ramp to I-880

• Wednesday August 2nd to Thursday August 3rd: from 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM: from 5th Avenue to High Street SB lanes #1 and #2; NB 29th Avenue on-ramp to I-880; full NB closure at 23rd Avenue overcrossing

• Friday August 4th to Saturday August 5th: from 10:00 PM until 7:00 AM: NB lane closures at various location along I-880 between 5th Avenue and High Street

Advance warning changeable message signs, detour signs and construction crew flaggers will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area.

This work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if necessary. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute. Please drive with caution through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and Slow for the Cone Zone.

California Highway Patrol will be on site during night closures.

STATE ROUTE 61/FULL POSEY TUBE CLOSURE IN OAKLAND
JULY 31 THROUGH AUGUST 3, 2017

Oakland, Alameda County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled a full closure of State Route 61 (SR-61)/Oakland Posey Tube starting Monday night, July 31 through Thursday morning, August 3, 2017 from 10:00 PM to 4:30 AM, to conduct re-lamping and tunnel washing operation.

Closure information is as follows:
• The SR-61/Oakland Posey Tube is closed starting Monday night, July 31 through Thursday morning August 3, 2017.
• Follow detour signs posted near and before Posey Tube entrance
