Off-ramp from Southbound U.S. 101 to Petaluma Blvd. South to be Closed
Southbound On-ramp from Petaluma Blvd. South to U.S. 101 to be Relocated

Petaluma, Sonoma County – On Monday night, June 9, Caltrans will make changes to southbound ramps for U.S. 101 at Petaluma Boulevard South.

Southbound U.S. 101 Off-ramp Closure
  • On Monday night, June 9, Caltrans will close the current off-ramp from southbound U.S. 101 to Petaluma Boulevard South. This closure is expected to last about six weeks and is necessary so that Caltrans can build a new southbound off-ramp that will connect to the new Kastania Road overcrossing.

  • Detour: Southbound traffic will exit at the U.S. 101 off-ramp to State Route 116, and turn right on Lakeville Street and left on East D. Street in order to reach Petaluma Blvd South.

Southbound U.S. 101 On-ramp Relocation
  • On Monday night, June 9, Caltrans will also open the new Kastania Road Overcrossing and the new on-ramp to southbound U.S. 101 from Petaluma Blvd South/ Kastania Road.
  • Motorists heading south on Petaluma Blvd South and traveling to southbound U.S. 101 will proceed over the new Kastania Overcrossing to the new southbound U.S. 101 on-ramp.
  • The current on-ramp to southbound U.S. 101 will no longer be in use as of the morning of June 10. 

If this work is delayed due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for a later time. Please drive cautiously through the construction zone and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you and Slow for the Cone Zone. The California Highway Patrol will be on site during these closures.

Eastbound Interstate-780 to Westbound I-80
Connector Closure during Landscape & Litter Effort Start Wednesday, May 28th

 

SOLANO COUNTY – Caltrans, the City of Vallejo, and several area agencies join forces in the eighth phase of a key partnership to beautify main entrances and thoroughfares in Vallejo through the “Vallejo Interagency Partnership” (VIP) program.

The major landscaping maintenance and litter abatement effort includes work on eastbound Interstate-780 from Lemon Street to the westbound I-80 connector. 

The two-day major maintenance effort starts Wednesday, May 28th and concludes on Thursday, May 29th.  Work starts each day at 9 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m. All work is weather permitting.  

Crews from Caltrans, the City of Vallejo, and other agencies will trim-back overgrown trees, clear drains, weed, mow, and clear-out trash, and debris along I-780, I-80, and adjacent onramps.

Eastbound I-780 connector to Westbound I-80 closed:
To ensure worker and public safety, the eastbound I-780 connector to westbound I-80 will be closed during the work. Detour signs will be posted. Motorists should allow extra travel time and watch for crews working on ramps and shoulders.

The far right lane of eastbound I-780 between Lemon Street and the I-80 interchange will also be closed.

Continuation of Full Freeway Closures Interstate 580/80

ALAMEDA, CA The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will continue full nighttime closures from westbound Interstate 80 to eastbound Interstate 580, and westbound Interstate 580 to eastbound Interstate 80 connectors. Construction will be ongoing until the end of August. These closures are necessary to repair the damaged bridge deck and place a concrete overlay over all lanes of the distribution structure.

Construction on westbound Interstate 80 to Eastbound Interstate 580 connector will be from May 27 through June 28, 2014 (Full Closure). Construction on westbound Interstate 580 to eastbound Interstate 80 connector will be from June 3 through June 31, 2014

·         Tuesday night until Friday morning: 11:00 PM - 5:00 AM

Full Closure Detour
Detour for westbound Interstate 580 to Eastbound Interstate 80 motorist will continue to westbound Interstate 80 towards San Francisco, take “PARKING LOT EXIT ONLY” exit on the left to the Toll Plaza parking lot, and merge onto eastbound Interstate 80.

Detour for Interstate 580 west MacArthur on-ramp traffic will turn right on San Pablo Avenue (alternatively turn right on Hollis St), turn left on Powell St and merge onto Interstate 80 east.

Detour for westbound Interstate 80 motorist will continue to Interstate 880 south, exit at the West Grand Avenue off-ramp, turn right on West Grand Avenue and merge to Interstate 580 east Maritime/West Grand on-ramp.

Detour for Interstate 580 east MacArthur off-ramp traffic will take the next exit to Webster St.

Contra Costa County – Lane closures resume tonight for the Interstate 580 construction project just east of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. The project is expected to be finished by mid-June. The contractor is currently completing final items and will have periodic night time closures. Lane closures will be as needed.

·         In general, until mid-June, Caltrans will close one westbound lane Monday night through Friday night, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

·         In general, until mid-June, Caltrans will close one eastbound lane Monday night through Friday night, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

·         Note: one eastbound lane at the Richmond-San Rafael bridge will be closed, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 p.m. to 4 a.m., to move scaffolding.  This work will continue until mid-June.

·         During these closures, motorists should expect travel delay and allow additional time to reach their destination.

This is an active construction site and the 45 MPH speed zone will be enforced by the California Highway Patrol. Drive cautiously through the construction zone and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Girder Installation to Begin 

Petaluma, Sonoma County – Full closures of southbound U.S. 101 at the Petaluma Bridge will begin tonight in order to install girders for a new bridge being built between the current northbound and southbound bridges. When the crane is in operation over the river, there will be brief closures for river traffic on Tuesday night, June 10. Petaluma Boulevard South will be closed Wednesday night, June 11 and Friday night, June 13.

Southbound U.S. 101 Closure Schedule
  • Tuesday night, May 27 – Thursday night, May 29 (3 nights)
    10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

  • Friday night, May 30
    11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • Crane will be moved to south side of the Petaluma River during week of June 2.

  • Monday night, June 9
10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

  • Tuesday night, June 10 – River traffic will have flagger.

Bridge Scheduled to Reopen at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21st

SOLANO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to reopen the Highway 84-Miner Slough Bridge in Solano County at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21st.

Crews have completed a critical section of bridge deck repair work which started earlier this month. The work was required after the deck deteriorated over time.

Caltrans will now continue with other bridge repair work which can be completed while the bridge remains open. The entire project could be completed as early as mid-July.

The Highway 84-Miner Slough Bridge is located on Ryer Island in the Delta near Rio Vista and Sacramento County.

Boaters should contact the U.S Coast Guard ahead of time to schedule waterway crossings under the bridge. Crossings must be approved ahead of time.

Ship and boat operators should be aware that during the repairs, the bridge may not be passable by water vessels.

Construction Begins for College Avenue Widening Project at U.S. 101
Weeknight Road Closures to Begin Wednesday Night, May 21

Santa Rosa –Caltrans will begin work this week to relocate sewer and water lines on College Avenue, between Cleveland Avenue and Morgan Street.

On Wednesday night, May 21, Caltrans will close College Avenue between Cleveland Avenue and the Interchange.  Vehicles will be able to reach the ARCO Gas Station and Subway restaurant adjacent to the freeway on-ramp, but through traffic will not be allowed between the southbound U.S. 101 freeway on-ramp/off-ramp and Cleveland Avenue.

  • Standard closure hours of College Avenue for utility relocation:
Monday – Friday, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Detour: Morgan Street to 9th Street to Cleveland Avenue.

  • No closures are scheduled for Friday night, May 23.

This project will widen College Avenue at US 101 between Cleveland Avenue to the west and Morgan Avenues to the east of the interchange. Improvements include new bicycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks in either direction, a second left-turn lane for eastbound College Avenue approach to the northbound US 101 on-ramp, and an extension of the westbound College Avenue to northbound Cleveland Avenue right-turn lane that will start at Morgan Avenue. New replacement traffic signals within project limits will provide further enhancement to the interchange.

When completed, there will be reduced congestion, improved safety, enhanced pedestrian and bicycle access, and improved traffic flow at the U.S. 101/College Avenue Interchange.

SOLANO COUNTY –The on-ramp and off-ramp from westbound Interstate 80 at Magazine Street in Vallejo will be closed for two consecutive days as Caltrans crews continue to perform shoulder, landscaping and tree work started on Tuesday, May 20th. 
For public and worker safety, the westbound I-80 on-ramp and off-ramp at Magazine Street will be closed for two days: Wednesday, May 21st and Thursday, May 22nd. The closures will be in effect each day starting at 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.
As part of the work, the far-right-lane of westbound I-80 between I-780 and Magazine Street will also be closed. 

Westbound I-80-Magazine Street Exit Detours:
Motorists headed onto westbound I-80 from Magazine Street will be detoured onto Lincoln Road West, then back onto westbound I-80.

Motorists exiting westbound I-80 from Magazine Street will be detoured onto Maritime Academy Drive, and onto northbound Highway 29.
Detour signs will be posted. Please watch for crews working and allow for extra travel time. All work is weather permitting.

Overnight Onramp Closure
Starting Monday, May 19th 

 

NAPA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform painting and cleaning work on the 1st Street overcrossing which crosses over Highway 29 in the City of Napa during five nights starting Monday, May 19th.

To ensure worker and public safety, the northbound onramp onto Highway 29 from First Street in Napa, and one of two lanes of northbound Highway 29 near 1st Street will be closed during the work.

The closures will be in effect each night Monday, May 19th, Tuesday, May 20th, Wednesday May 21st, Thursday, May 22nd, Tuesday, May 27th and Wednesday, May 28th. The closures will start each night at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following mornings.

Detour-State Route 29 at First Street in Napa,

Motorists heading onto northbound Highway 29 from First Street will be detoured to the Lincoln Street overcrossing. Detour signs will be posted. All work is weather permitting.

NAPA COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has completed repairs to the support wall on the Highway 128-Hopper Slough Bridge in Napa County.

The repairs were completed and the bridge reopened to motorists on Thursday, May 15th at approximately 9 p.m.

The bridge is located on Highway 128 (also known as Rutherford Road) between Yountville and Calistoga.
