Marina Boulevard Demolition and Full Freeway Closure

ALAMEDA, CA – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin demolition work on the Marina Boulevard bridge. The demolition work will start May 9th and continue up until as late as May 16th.

The majority of the work will be performed at night with lane closures on I-880. Lane closures and full freeway closures will be in the northbound 880 direction. The typical lane closure hours are 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM on weeknights and 10:00PM - 8:00 AM on weekend nights. Demolition may occur between any of the above mentioned hours.

Northbound Freeway Closure Hours:

•     Weeknights 11:59 AM - 4:00 AM,

•     12:01 AM - 5:00 AM on Friday night/Saturday morning

•     1:00 AM - 7:00AM on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Detour

The detours will take all freeway traffic off I-880 at Marina Boulevard off-ramp and direct them across Marina Boulevard onto the on-ramp.

During demolition residents are expected to have increased levels of noise. Motorists should expect delays during full freeway closure hours and are advised to use alternative routes if possible.
