Weekly Lane Closures for the San Mateo County Route 82
Smart Corridor Project
                         
San Mateo County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled the following lane closures for the week of July 1, 2013, through July 3,           2013 as part of the Route 82 (El Camino Real) Smart Corridor project.

Caltrans crews will install an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) system that provides traffic management tools to manage traffic on local streets and State Route 82. Improvements include, a fiber optic communication system, interconnection of local and State traffic signals, trailblazer signs, message signs, vehicle detection systems and fixed cameras. This system will run from the City of San Bruno to Redwood City.

Partners include: (C/CAG) City and County of Associated Governments of San Mateo County, US Department of Transportation-Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the following Cities, San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City.

Construction is expected to be completed in October, 2013. (Weather Permitting)

U.S. 101 Construction in Petaluma
South Petaluma Blvd. On-Ramp to U.S. 101 to Close for Two Months

Petaluma, Sonoma County – Caltrans is planning to close the northbound U.S. 101 on-ramp from South Petaluma Boulevard for approximately two months, beginning July 8, 2013, and continuing until at least August 30, 2013. This closure is necessary to construct temporary northbound on and off-ramps to accommodate construction of a new interchange.  

Detour: During this closure, motorists should travel north on Petaluma Boulevard South, turn right on East D. Street, turn right on Lakeville Street, continue to the U.S. 101/State Route 116 Interchange and take the northbound U.S. 101 on-ramp.

Emergency Ramp and lane Closures on Northbound Route 101 In East Palo Alto

Emergency Ramp and lane Closures on Northbound Route 101
In East Palo Alto
                         

San Mateo County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the University on-ramp in East Palo Alto along with the Northbound #4 & #5 lanes on Route 101in East Palo Alto on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 10:00pm. to 5:00am.

This closure will allow work crews to repair a 4 inch utility water main that serves the Westside residents of Menlo Park. Crews will return on Tuesday or Wednesday with the same closures and same hours to complete the repair by paving.

Detour Signs will be posted to help guide motorist through the construction zone.

Motorists are strongly urged to drive cautiously through this construction zone and to
always leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of
you.

Work Continues Friday Night

SONOMA COUNTY – Caltrans has scheduled lane and closures during the night this week for the U.S. 101 Airport Blvd. Interchange Project. The contractor will restripe northbound and southbound U.S. 101 to make room in the median for future construction activities. Motorists should be aware that lanes will be shifted when driving through this construction zone.  Speed Limit control signs have been installed to enhance traffic safety.

The following lane and ramp closures are planned for Friday night:

Northbound 101
  • One lane will be closed from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and two lanes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Airport Blvd. Loop On-Ramp from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Detour: From Airport Blvd. turn on Fulton Road, left on Redwood Highway, left on Shiloh Road, and return to U.S. 101.
  • Airport Blvd. Diagonal On-Ramp from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Detour: Northbound traffic should travel east on Airport Blvd., left on Fulton Road, left on Redwood Highway, left on Shiloh Road, and return to U.S. 101.

Southbound 101
  • One lane from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and two lanes from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Airport Blvd. Diagonal On-ramp from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Detour: travel east on Airport Blvd., turn right on Fulton Road and take the southbound U.S. 101 loop on-ramp.

This work is weather dependent. If it is delayed due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for a later time.   • Airport Blvd. Diagonal On-ramp from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Detour: travel east on Airport Blvd., turn right on Fulton Road and take the southbound U.S. 101 loop on-ramp.

One-Way Traffic Controls for Week of Monday, June 17th

SAN MATEO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will need to perform pavement striping work along the north and south approach roads of the Highway 1-Tom Lantos Tunnels.

Monday to Friday – June 17th to June 21st-Lane Closures Overnight
To ensure worker and public safety, one-way traffic controls will be switching from the northbound bore to the southbound bore throughout the night for the week of June 17th at the Highway 1-Tom Lantos Tunnels.  

The overnight work is scheduled for Monday to Thursday night, June 17th to June 20th. The work will start at 7 p.m. nightly and will be completed the following mornings at 7 a.m.

The overnight work is also scheduled for Friday night, June 21st. The work will start at 9 p.m. and will be completed the following morning at 7 a.m.

During one-way traffic controls, one lane of traffic through one of the tunnels will remain open at all times with flaggers alternating northbound and southbound traffic.

All work is weather permitting. Motorists should allow for extra travel time.

Real McCoy II Ferry Scheduled For Preventive Maintenance Overnight Closure Thursday, June 13th

Real McCoy II Ferry Scheduled For Preventive Maintenance
Overnight Closure Thursday, June 13th
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily suspend service of the Real McCoy II Ferry overnight on Thursday, June 13th to perform regular preventive maintenance.
The Real McCoy II is scheduled to be closed Thursday, June 13th at 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Friday, June 14th. All work is weather permitting.
The Real McCoy II, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the city of Rio Vista in Solano County.
The delta region ferry normally runs scheduled crossings every 20 minutes, on the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, and 40 minutes after the hour.

During the service interruption, motorists are advised to use Highway 160 and the        J-Mack Ferry along Highway 220.

CALTRANS DISTRICT 4 (BAY AREA)- Caltrans and the CHP will work together in a major effort against highway litter Wednesday, June 12th, 2013. This is the 10th anniversary of the Litter Clean-Up Event which started as a conversation about Litter Abatement between Caltrans, the CHP, truck associations and various Bay Area cities.

Caltrans maintenance crews throughout the nine Bay Area counties will focus their efforts throughout the day on cleaning-up litter left alongside the highways. Caltrans employees will be at some of these various locations around the Bay Area:

San Francisco (9:30 a.m. until 1p.m.)
Northbound and Southbound Highway 101 from Sierra Point Exit
to the Candlestick Park Exit.  

Oakland-Alameda (9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.)
Northbound and Southbound Highway 61(Doolittle Drive) between
Hegenberger Road and Island Drive

San Rafael (10 a.m. until 1 p.m.)
Northbound and Southbound Highway 101 over Alto Hill
and also from                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Highway 131 to Tamalpais Drive

San Jose (9 a.m. until 1 p.m.)

Last fiscal year, Caltrans spent more than $52 million statewide on cleanup and trash removal. During its one day event in 2012, Caltrans collected the equivalent of 10,000 garbage trucks of trash which is equal to 51 miles of trash. DETOUR ROUTE SCHEDULED ALONG E/B I-580 MAZE/HWY24 DUE TO LATE NIGHT LANE PAVING OPERATIONS

DETOUR ROUTE SCHEDULED ALONG E/B I-580
MAZE/HWY24 DUE TO LATE NIGHT LANE PAVING OPERATIONS
ALAMEDA COUNTY – Caltrans is planning several lane closures along sections of Eastbound (E/B) Interstate 580 in Oakland and Emeryville to allow construction crews to safely conduct lane paving operations. The following closures will be in effect beginning Wednesday, June 12th through Friday, June 14th, between the hours of 12:00 AM-6:00 AM.:
·         E/B I-580 #1 and 2 lanes between the MAZE (Emeryville interchange that includes interstates 580 & 880) and State Route (SR) 24 E/B connection.
·         W/B I-80 connector to E/B I-580 #1 lane will be closed along with complete closure of the E/B MacArthur Blvd. off ramp.
·         E/B I-80 #1 lane/connector from the SFOBB (Bay Bridge) to E/B 580 (which is the #3 lane after the W/B connector comes in) may be closed to accommodate traffic transition from the W/B I-80 connector onto the # 3 lane of the E/B I-580.
CMS boards will be posted to direct eastbound traffic along I-580 between Oakland through Emeryville, and from San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge to the following detour route:
·         Detour for E/B MacArthur Blvd. /San Pablo Avenue off ramp – take E/B I-580 to W/B I-980, to W/B 27th St., to SR-123/San Pablo Ave., to MacArthur Blvd.
Crews are expected to complete the repairs by 6:00 AM each morning; however motorists should anticipate some minor delays in order for crews to safely complete construction operations along the interstate.
