J-Mack Ferry-Mandatory Dry Dock Upgrade Work
Long-Term Closure Rescheduled to March 26, 2015

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has rescheduled a long-term closure of the J-Mack Ferry in the Delta.

The closures originally scheduled to start Friday, February 27 have now been rescheduled to start Thursday, March 26 at 12:01 AM.

The ferry is scheduled to be returned to service by the week of Sunday, May 17. Caltrans will make an announcement once an exact return date is determined.

The scheduling change will allow crews to procure parts needed for repairs of the J-Mack, and also reduce the number of days the J-Mack is out of service.

Caltrans is working in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guards’ mandated dry dock inspection of the J-Mack Ferry. During this time, the ferry will be moved to a dry dock facility for the U.S. Coast Guard inspection, and upgrade and repair work to better suit the needs of the traveling public.

The J-Mack, also known as the Steamboat Slough Ferry, provides around the clock service on State Route 220 between Ryer Island in Solano County and Grand Island in Sacramento County.

During the closure, motorists are advised to use the Real McCoy Ferry, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry along State Route 84.

Herbicide Spraying on Route 84 in San Mateo County

State of California • Department of Transportation

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Herbicide Spraying on Route 84 in San Mateo County

San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Roadside Vegetation Control Crews will begin spraying Herbicide on Route 84, westbound in San Mateo County from Post Mile 1.0 to Post Mile 14.95 on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, and the following Tuesday, March 10, 2015, between the hours of 9:00am to 2:00pm.

During a routine inspection, Caltrans deemed spraying is necessary for safety measures, such as clearing weeds around signs and guardrails, sight distance, establishing fire strips and invasive plants and species that maintenance is not able to control by any other means. Scotch broom (an invasive shrub) has encroached the travel way which creates a safety hazard for motorist. Crews will not spray in driveways, creeks or congregated mailboxes. No spraying will take place within 50 feet of all creeks and rivers.

NOTE: No spraying will take place in the Town of La Honda or San Gregorio.

Properties displaying a “No Spray Sign” will not be sprayed.

This is a moving operation; work will take place on the shoulder. No lane closures are necessary.

Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
