Crews completed installation of two giant bridge columns in the median of I-780 during the night of August 29, 2017. Since the installation is complete, Caltrans has canceled the overnight closure scheduled for August 30, 2017.

Project Overview
The old Laurel Street Bridge was demolished in June 2017 and is currently being rebuilt above westbound and eastbound I-780 in Vallejo.
The columns will support the new bridge deck and bring the new Laurel Street Bridge up to the latest seismic safety standards. The new bridge will be completed as early as winter 2017.
Upcoming I-780 Two Consecutive Night Closures Start September 6, 2017
Caltrans will next install the bridge’s vertical girders across I-780.

That work is scheduled Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7, 2017 starting at 10:00 PM each night until 5:00 AM the following mornings.

To ensure worker and public safety, Caltrans will close I-780 at Laurel Street.

Westbound I-780 will be closed on one of the two nights and eastbound I-780 will be closed on of the two nights. During the two nights, one traffic direction (either westbound or eastbound)
I-780 will remain open at all times.

Caltrans will make make an announcement as additional information becomes available.

Detours-Eastbound Curtola Parkway to Eastbound I-780
Motorists traveling onto eastbound I-780 (from Downtown Vallejo to Benicia) will be detoured onto the exit loop off-ramp to eastbound I-80 from Curtola Parkway, stay left, then maintain the left lane toward the Frontage Road exit, right onto Lincoln Road East, then at the stop sign make an immediate left onto eastbound Benicia Road, continue on Benicia Road for approximately one-mile, right onto southbound Glen Cove Road and enter eastbound I-780 from Glen Cove Road.
