FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Temporary Closure of Fruitvale Park and Ride Lots
Interstate 580 / Fruitvale Avenue in Oakland
March 2017 through August 2017

Alameda County, Calif. – Caltrans is conducting work to upgrade curb ramps and sidewalks for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance improvements and repave the park and ride lots located at Fruitvale Avenue undercrossing. The lots will be closed, alternating closures between the two lots. One lot, during construction will remain open, but will impact the total number of parking spaces available during construction.

Sidewalk and ADA ramp work will necessitate temporary equipment staging in one of two lanes along Fruitvale Avenue, reducing the roadway to one lane in this area of construction on a short-term basis. Signage will provide 72-hour notice prior to any lane restrictions. Work will be conducted in phases at individual locations. Work will be conducted according to the schedule below:

• Work impacting the park and ride lot will typically take place (in one lot at a time) from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM weekdays (Monday through Friday).
• Curb ramp improvements will typically take place from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM weekdays (Monday through Friday).
• There may be night closures that will take place from 10:00 PM until 7:00 AM weekdays (Monday through Friday).
• There will also be construction noise due to heavy equipment operations during times of construction.

The project work begins Wednesday March 15, 2017 and is anticipated to be completed in August 2017. All work is weather dependent.
