FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ADA Compliance Curb Ramps and Sidewalk Improvements
State Route 13 / Ashby Avenue in Berkeley
January 2017 through March 2017

Alameda County, Calif. – Caltrans is conducting work to upgrade curb ramps and sidewalks for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance improvements along State Route 13 (SR-13) / Ashby Avenue in Berkeley, Alameda County. The work takes place at 15 locations between Shattuck Avenue and 7th Street along SR-13 / Ashby Avenue. During the week of January 23-27, construction is anticipated at: SR-13/Ashby Avenue and Adeline Street; SR-13 and Stanton Street; and SR-13 and Newbury Street.

Sidewalk and ADA ramp work will necessitate temporary equipment staging in the parking lane along the SR-13 / Ashby Avenue corridor, making the parking lane in the area of construction unavailable for general use on a short-term basis. Signage will provide 72-hour notice prior to any parking restrictions. Work will be conducted in phases at individual locations. Depending on weather, work will be conducted according to the schedule below:

• Work impacting the eastbound parking lane will take place from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM weekdays (Monday through Friday).

• Work impacting the westbound parking lane will take place from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM weekdays (Monday through Friday).
