U.S. 101 Petaluma River Bridge Construction Project
Southbound U.S. Route 101 Traffic Shift and Ramp Closure Begins Tomorrow Night
Petaluma, Sonoma County – On Wednesday night, August 12, Caltrans will shift southbound U.S. Route101 traffic to the center lanes over the Petaluma River. The southbound traffic shift will begin at 10 p.m. Wednesday night and be complete by Thursday morning at 5 a.m. Due to the traffic shift, the southbound off-ramp to Petaluma Boulevard South will close at 10 p.m. Wednesday night, August 12, and remain closed for about six weeks while the contractor raises the grade of the old roadway to match the new height and constructs a new southbound off-ramp to Petaluma Boulevard South.
• Detour for the Closure of Southbound Off-ramp to Petaluma Boulevard South: Exit at State Route 116 in Petaluma. Turn right on Lakeville Street, left on D Street, left on Petaluma Boulevard South, and continue to your destination.
• Alternate Detour: Continue on southbound U.S. Route 101, exit at Redwood Landfill, cross over the freeway and return to northbound U.S. Route 101. Exit at Petaluma Boulevard South.
• This work is weather dependent. If work is cancelled due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled.
• The speed limit for southbound U.S. Route 101 will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone.
Please drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and Slow for the Cone Zone. The California Highway Patrol will be on site during closures.
