Traffic Delays Expected Through Summer

SACRAMENTO COUNTY– Caltrans announced today that Motorists should prepare for overnight construction activity and lane restrictions through the summer on segments of State Highway 160 in South Sacramento County in the Delta region.

Construction crews will be working seven days a week from West Sherman Island Road to State Highway 12 through July 31.

Motorists can expect overnight alternating lane restrictions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Fridays through Sundays.

The first traffic-interfering work will begin on Thursday, July 6 when crews begin grinding off the old pavement for northbound and southbound lanes.

The work is first phase of a $4 million project to resurface areas of State Highway 160 to south of Walnut Grove. Other work includes replacing electrical loops, crack sealing, metal beam guardrail repairs, and striping.

Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic,
