State Route 128 Flashing Beacons Project
Flashing Beacons to Be Installed at Four Locations on Alexander Valley Rd.
SONOMA COUNTY – In late October Caltrans installed construction signs and began a project to install flashing beacons in both directions at four locations on State Route 128/Alexander Valley Road. Weather permitting, the contractor will be working at each location for about ten working days.
Residents can expect temporary closures of their driveways while the contractor is trenching through the area. If necessary, to keep driveways open, metal plates will be used to cover excavated areas. In addition, one-way, reversing traffic control will be in place during installation of beacon posts. This project is expected to be complete by the end of December 2015.
Location Details
• School Area Flashing Beacons will be installed at the intersection of SR 128 with River Road and Moody Lane. Once installed, the beacons will operate 24/7.
• Curve Warning Flashing Beacon Systems will be installed at the following locations:
o Intersection of SR 128 with Geysers Road—traffic activated beacons
o Intersection of SR 128 with Wasson Lane –traffic activated beacons
o Intersection of SR 128 with Pine Flat Road—traffic activated beacons
o These beacons activate when vehicles pass over loop sensors. Beacons will activate when traffic is present. Beacons will turn off when traffic is not present.
If this work is delayed due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for a later time. Please be alert for flaggers, drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and Slow for the Cone Zone.
