Long-Term Bridge Closure
Starts 6:30 AM Friday, May 19, 2017
Overnight Closures on I-80
This Weekend

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the Interstate-80 (I-80) Meridian Road Bridge (Bridge #23-0147) continuously for approximately four months starting on Friday, May 19 at 6:30 AM. The bridge is located above westbound and eastbound I-80 in Vacaville.

The closure will allow Caltrans to perform bridge retrofit work which is scheduled to be completed in approximately four months. All work is weather permitting.

Long-Term Meridian Bridge Closure with Detours
During the long-term closure of the I-80 Meridian Road Bridge, nearby residents and businesses are advised to use the I-80 Midway Road Bridge just east of the Meridian Bridge as a general detour.

Westbound I-80 Overnight Closure and Detours
Saturday May 21-Sunday May 22
To ensure public and worker safety, during the one-night, partial demolition of the Meridian Bridge, a full overnight closure of westbound and eastbound I-80 between Meridian Road and Midway Road will be in effect Saturday, May 20 at 11:00 PM until Sunday, May 21 at 8:00 AM.

A short detour onto frontage roads near the bridge will be in effect. Detour signs will be posted. CHP will assist with traffic controls. \

Project Benefits
This project will retrofit the existing Meridian Road Bridge and will eventually demolish and rebuild the Midway Road Bridge. The work will seismically retrofit these bridges and bring them up to the latest seismic safety standards.
