State Route 29/Sonoma Boulevard-Vallejo
Intermittent Lane Closures
Installation of New Traffic Signal Lights and Street Lights
April-July 2017
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has started installation of several new traffic signal lights and new and brighter street lights on State Route 29 (SR-29) which is also known as Sonoma Boulevard in Vallejo.
The new traffic signal lights will be installed at four SR-29/Sonoma Boulevard intersections at Alabama, Illinois, Capitol and Ohio Streets.
Caltrans has worked closely with the City of Vallejo in implementing the new signal lights to increase safety for pedestrians and motorists along one of the busiest traffic corridors in the city.
New and brighter street lights will also be installed at 10 intersections along 2-miles of SR-29 between Illinois and Cherry Streets. Crews will also repaint crosswalks to make them more visible to motorists and pedestrians.
SR-29 Sonoma Boulevard-Alternating Lane Closures:
To ensure public and worker safety, various lanes of SR-29/Sonoma Boulevard will be closed intermittently between Illinois and Cherry Streets during the daytime installation work. The project is tentatively scheduled to be completed by July 31, 2017.
Motorists are advised to always drive with caution through construction zones.
