J-Mack Ferry-Mandatory Dry Dock Upgrade Work
Long-Term Closure Starts March 26 at 12:01 AM

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled a long-term closure of the J-Mack Ferry in the Delta.

The J-Mack is scheduled to close starting Thursday, March 26 at 12:01 AM, and be returned to service by the week of Sunday, May 17.

Caltrans will make an announcement once an exact return date is determined.

The closure will allow Caltrans to work in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guards’ mandated dry dock inspection of the ferry. During this time, the J-Mack will be moved to a dry dock facility for the U.S. Coast Guard inspection, and upgrade and repair work to better suit the needs of the traveling public.

The J-Mack, also known as the Steamboat Slough Ferry, provides around the clock service on State Route 220 between Ryer Island in Solano County and Grand Island in Sacramento County.

During the closure, motorists are advised to use the Real McCoy Ferry, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry along State Route 84.

For the latest information, motorists can also call the Caltrans Ryer Island Ferry Update Line at (510) 622-0120.

Additional information is also available on the Caltrans Delta Ferries webpage at: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/deltaferries/

Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to maintain the J-Mack Ferry.
