FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sarco Creek Bridge at SR-121- Napa
Long-Term Bridge and Highway Closure
Starts 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2017
Upcoming Bridge Demolition

NAPA COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the Sarco Creek Bridge on State Route 121 (SR-121) in Napa for approximately six months as crews demolish and rebuild the bridge at the same site.

The bridge will be closed starting Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM.

After June 14, northbound and southbound SR-121 at the Sarco Creek Bridge will be closed continuously until the new bridge is built and opened to traffic.

The bridge is located on SR-121 between Hagen Road and Trancas Street in Napa County near the Napa City Limit. The bridge was originally scheduled to be closed the week of June 5, 2017 but will now be closed starting June 14, 2017.

A new bridge will replace the existing bridge which has been scoured and is in need of replacement.

Detour Route-Northbound SR-121 At Sarco Creek Bridge
During construction of the new Sarco Creek Bridge, motorists traveling on northbound SR-29 towards Yountville or Lake Berryessa (via SR-221 and SR-121) will be detoured at the SR-29/State Route-221 (SR-221) Interchange. From the SR-29/SR-221 Interchange, motorists will be detoured onto northbound SR-29, to eastbound Trancas Street then re-enter northbound SR-121 from Trancas Street.

Detour Route-Southbound SR-121 At Sarco Creek Bridge
During construction, motorists traveling on southbound SR-121 towards Vallejo and San Francisco will be detoured at Trancas Street. Motorists will travel westbound on Trancas Street, southbound on SR-29 and continue on southbound SR-29 towards Vallejo and San Francisco.

*Northbound SR-121 between Hagen Road and Sarco Creek Bridge will remain open to local traffic only. Southbound SR-121 between Rose Drive and Trancas Street will remain open to local traffic only.

Motorists traveling locally on SR-121 (Silverado Trail) to reach homes and businesses between Hagen Road and Rose Drive are advised to travel cautiously in and near the construction zone.

All work is weather dependent. Motorists should expect delays and watch for detour signs and flaggers. The CHP will assist with traffic control.

Construction Zone Activity
Residents and businesses near the bridge may temporarily experience increased noise and some dust during demolition and construction.
