FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Pedro Creek Bridge Demolition Work (State Route 1) Pacifica

San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin the demolition of the old San Pedro Creek Bridge on State Route 1 in the city of Pacifica, (San Mateo County) starting Wednesday, July 23, 2014 through Friday, July 25, 2014. Demolition will take place between the hours of 6:30am to 4:00pm. After the old bridge has been demolished, crews will begin construction of the new San Pedro Creek Bridge.

This work is part of the San Pedro Creek Bridge Replacement Project that started in May 2014. The project will install a longer and higher bridge over the creek to provide the capacity need for the 100-year flood event. In addition, a Class 1 multi-purpose path will be added along its eastern side.

During demolition residents/businesses are expected to have increased levels of noise.

This project will be completed by October, 2015 (weather permitting)

NOTE: No closures are needed for demolition as a detour has been in place on San Pedro Avenue since June, 2014.
