One-Way Traffic Controls Next Two Nights

SAN MATEO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will
need to perform additional electrical work along the northbound and southbound approaches to the Highway 1-Tom Lantos Tunnels. To ensure worker and public safety, the southbound bore of the Highway 1-Tom Lantos Tunnel will be closed overnight with one-way traffic controls through the northbound bore. 

Wednesday, May 29th and Thursday, May 30th-Lane Closures Overnight
To ensure worker and public safety, the southbound bore of the Lantos Tunnel will be closed with one-way traffic controls in effect through the northbound tunnel.

The overnight work is scheduled for two nights, Wednesday, May 29th and Thursday,
May 30th. The work will start each night at 8 p.m. and will be completed the following mornings at 7 a.m.

During one-way traffic controls, one lane of traffic through the northbound tunnel will remain open at all times with flaggers alternating northbound and southbound traffic.

All work is weather permitting. Motorists should allow for extra travel time.

Smart Corridor Project
                         
San Mateo County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled the following lane closures for the week of May 29, 2013, through May 31, 2013 as part of the Route 82 (El Camino Real) Smart Corridor project.

Caltrans crews will install an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) system that provides traffic management tools to manage traffic on local streets and State Route 82. Improvements include, a fiber optic communication system, interconnection of local and State traffic signals, trailblazer signs, message signs, vehicle detection systems and fixed cameras. This system will run from the City of San Bruno to Redwood City.

Partners include: (C/CAG) City and County of Associated Governments of San Mateo County, US Department of Transportation-Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the following Cities, San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City.

Construction is expected to be completed in October, 2013. (Weather Permitting)

Real McCoy II Ferry Scheduled For Preventive Maintenance
Overnight Closure Thursday, May 23rd
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily suspend service of the Real McCoy II Ferry overnight on Thursday,               May 23rd to perform regular preventive maintenance.
The Real McCoy II is scheduled to be closed Thursday, May 23rd at 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Friday, May 24th. All work is weather permitting.
The Real McCoy II, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the city of Rio Vista in Solano County.
The delta region ferry normally runs scheduled crossings every 20 minutes, on the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, and 40 minutes after the hour.

During the service interruption, motorists are advised to use Highway 160 and the        J-Mack Ferry along Highway 220.

Caltrans Maintenance to Begin Paving of

Interstate 980 27th Street On and Off-ramps in Oakland


Oakland, Alameda County –Tuesday, May 21, Caltrans will begin paving the eastbound/westbound 27th Street/Northgate Avenue on-ramp to eastbound Interstate 980. Paving operations will begin Tuesday, May 21 and continue through Thursday, May 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Paving for the westbound 24/980/580 off-ramp will begin on Tuesday, May 28 and continue through Thursday, May 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be various lane closures and detours during this work, according to the following schedule:

May 21: the left lane of the on-ramp that directs traffic to eastbound and westbound I-580 will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Detour: Take 27th Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Way to 18th Street to eastbound Interstate 980; or take 27th Street to Telegraph Avenue to 19th Street (which turns into 18th Street) to eastbound I-980.

May 22-23: The two right lanes on the on-ramp will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interstate 580 will remain accessible through the left lane. Detour: State Route 24 traffic will take 27th Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Way to 18th Street to eastbound Interstate 980; or take 27th Street to Telegraph Avenue to 19th Street (which turns into 18th Street) to eastbound I-980.

May 28-29: The SR 24/I-980 off-ramp to 27th Street will be completely closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The right lane of the off-ramp from eastbound and westbound I-580 will also be closed. I-580 to 27th Street will remain accessible through the left lane of the off-ramp. Detour: Westbound SR 24/980 traffic will detour to 18th Street to Castro Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Way to 27th Street.

May 30: The eastbound/westbound I-580 connector off-ramp to 27th Street, and the left lane of the off-ramp from westbound SR 24/I-980 will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interstate 980 to 27th Street will remain accessible through the right lane of the off-ramp. Detour: Eastbound/westbound I-580 traffic will detour to westbound I-980 to 18th Street to Castro Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Way to 27th Street.

There will be additional detours for bicyclists on 27th Street during this work. Motorists are asked to be alert for maintenance workers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Upcoming Closures on Interstate 680 in Contra Costa County

Contra CostaCaltrans (District 4) has scheduled closures in Contra Costa County on 680 northbound to the Highway 24 westbound connector for pavement construction activities. These activities involve the application of a sealant in order to prolong the life of the roadway.

·         Two lanes will be closed on I-680 at Newell Undercrossing Tuesday night, May 21, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

·         The northbound I-680 connector ramp to westbound Highway 24 will be closed Wednesday night, May 22, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This work is weather dependent, and if delayed due to weather conditions will be rescheduled. Please drive cautiously through the construction zone and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.

Drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible. Please drive cautiously and remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

U.S. 101 / State Route 116 Construction in Petaluma
Night Closure on Friday for SR 116 at U.S. 101 Interchange

Petaluma, Sonoma County – Caltrans has scheduled a full closure of State Route 116 on Friday night, May 17, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., to continue demolition of a portion of the southbound U.S. 101 bridge. Eastbound and westbound SR 116 will be closed to motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Detour: During this closure, traffic should detour to Caulfield Lane and S. McDowell Boulevard.

This work is weather dependent.  If it is delayed due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for a later time. Intermittent Closures Near Rio Vista Start Tuesday, May 14th
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin replacing dozens of center divider posts called channelizers on Highway 12 between Rio Vista and Suisun City on Tuesday, May 14th.
The work is scheduled to start Tuesday, May 14th and be completed by Thursday, May 16th. Weather permitting, work will start each day Tuesday, May 14th, Wednesday, May 15th, and Thursday, May 16th at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.
The work will replace dozens of channelizers that have become worn and damaged over time.
To ensure public and worker safety, intermittent closures of Highway 12 between         Drouin Drive in Rio Vista and Denverton Road near Suisun City are scheduled.
Crews will close the highway in both directions for 10 minutes at a time then reopen the highway to release traffic. CHP will help direct motorists in both eastbound and westbound directions. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.
Please drive cautiously and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.

Alameda and Contra Costa Counties –Caltrans has scheduled ramp closures on eastbound and westbound Interstate 80 for construction activities for the Interstate 80 Integrated Corridor Mobility Project.  

  • The eastbound I-80 Central Avenue on-ramp will be closed Monday night, May 13, and Tuesday night, May 14, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • The eastbound I-80 Powell Street on-ramp will be closed Monday night, May 20, and Tuesday night, May 21, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • The westbound I-80 Carlson On-ramp will be closed Monday night, May 20, and Tuesday night, May 21, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • The eastbound I-80 Ashby Avenue on-ramp will be closed Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Napa County Highway 29 Lane Closure

Napa County –Caltrans (District 4) will conduct a lane closure on Highway 29 in Napa north of Tubbs Lane between Robert Louis Stevenson Historical Trail and Livermore Road. This will begin Monday, May 13, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the following two weeks. After two weeks, the closure will be twenty-four hours a day until early October 2013.

The one-way traffic control will enable workers to construct two retaining walls along a section of Highway 29 where a large slide occurred in 2006. This work requires placement of temporary traffic signals to allow for one-way traffic control twenty-four hours a day. Advanced warning message signs will be placed.

Drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible. Please drive cautiously and remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Interstate 80-Vacaville-Dixon

Westbound and Eastbound Overnight Lane Closures

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has started lane repair work as part of the Interstate 80 (I-80) Vacaville-Dixon Pavement Rehabilitation Project. The overnight repairs will require various overnight lane closures until further notice.

I-80 Westbound Nightly Lane Closures
To ensure worker and public safety, up to two of three lanes of westbound I-80 between Leisure Town Road in Vacaville and the Highway 113/I-80 Interchange in Dixon will be
closed. The closures begin nightly Monday through Friday starting at 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following mornings.

I-80 Eastbound Nightly Lane Closures
In the eastbound direction, up to two of three lanes of eastbound I-80 between the Highway 113/I-80 Interchange in Dixon and Leisure Town Road in Vacaville will be closed. Those closures begin nightly Monday through Friday starting at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following mornings. All work is weather permitting. Caltrans will install changeable message signs and motorists should allow for extra travel time.
