Paving Repairs on State Route 92 in Half Moon Bay

(San Mateo County) One Lane Closed (Eastbound)San Mateo County-

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin work on Thursday, October 16, 2014 to grind and repave the roadway at Post Mile 3.3 to Post Mile 5.1, from Pilarcitos Creek to the Junction of State Route 92 and State Route 35.

The eastbound number 2 lane will be closed from 9:30am to 3:30pm; the work will continue on Friday, October 17, 2014, with the same hours.
NOTE: Paving will not affect traffic into Half Moon Bay.

One lane will remain open to traffic at all times while paving is performed.
Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to use alternate routes. Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

San Pedro Creek Bridge Pile Driving to Begin (State Route 1) Pacifica

San Pedro Creek Bridge Pile Driving to Begin (State Route 1) Pacifica


San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin pile driving (bridge foundation work) for the San Pedro Creek Bridge Replacement Project adjacent to San Pedro Avenue and State Route 1 in Pacifica.

Pile driving will be performed starting August 18, 2014 to August 22, 2014, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am to 5:00pm. Pile driving may continue the following week beginning on August 25, 2014 to August 29, 2014.

Pile driving involves hammering large steel shell units into the ground to hold structural supports for highway bridges and other structures. Residents can expect noise and vibration.  

This work is part of the San Pedro Creek Bridge Replacement Project that started in May 2014. The project will install a longer and higher bridge over the creek to provide the capacity need for the 100-year flood event. In addition, a Class 1 multi-purpose path will be added along its eastern side.

This project will be completed by October, 2015 (weather permitting)

NOTE: No closures are needed for pile driving as a detour has been in place on San Pedro Avenue since June, 2014.

San Pedro Creek Bridge Demolition Work (State Route 1) Pacifica

San Pedro Creek Bridge Demolition Work (State Route 1) Pacifica


San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin the demolition of the old San Pedro Creek Bridge on State Route 1 in the city of Pacifica, (San Mateo County) starting Wednesday, July 23, 2014 through Friday, July 25, 2014. Demolition will take place between the hours of 6:30am to 4:00pm. After the old bridge has been demolished, crews will begin construction of the new San Pedro Creek Bridge.

This work is part of the San Pedro Creek Bridge Replacement Project that started in May 2014. The project will install a longer and higher bridge over the creek to provide the capacity need for the 100-year flood event. In addition, a Class 1 multi-purpose path will be added along its eastern side.

During demolition residents/businesses are expected to have increased levels of noise.

This project will be completed by October, 2015 (weather permitting)

NOTE: No closures are needed for demolition as a detour has been in place on San Pedro Avenue since June, 2014.

Long Term Traffic Detour on State Route 1 to San Pedro Avenue in (Pacifica) San Mateo County

Long Term Traffic Detour on State Route 1 to San Pedro Avenue in (Pacifica) San Mateo County


San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will detour traffic onto San Pedro Avenue from Route 1, south of Linda Mar Boulevard in the city of Pacifica on the morning of Friday, June 20. As part of the San Pedro Creek Bridge Replacement Project, this detour will allow construction crews to begin work in the creek and construct access to the creek. Pedestrians will have access along San Pedro Avenue facing the San Pedro Shopping Center.

Pedestrian traffic south of Linda Mar will not be allowed access east of the old bridge.

Southbound: Traffic will continue onto Route 1 by making a right turn onto San Pedro Avenue.

Northbound: Traffic coming from the Devil’s Slide Tunnels will continue onto San Pedro Avenue and make a left at Linda Mar Boulevard to get back onto Route 1.

Changeable message signs are in place to help guide motorist through the detour. This detour will be in effect throughout the duration of the project.

This project will be completed by October, 2015 (weather permitting).

Herbicide Spraying on Route 84 in San Mateo County

 Herbicide Spraying on Route 84 in San Mateo County

San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Roadside Vegetation Control Crews will begin spraying Post–Emergence Herbicide on Route 84, eastbound and westbound in San Mateo County from Post Mile 0.0 to Post Mile 12.6 just before the Town of La Honda on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, and Wednesday, June 11, 2014, between the hours of 9:00am to 12:00pm.

This spraying is necessary for safety measures, such as clearing weeds around signs and guardrails, sight distance, establishing fire strips and invasive plants and species that maintenance is not able to control by any other means. Crews will not spray in driveways, creeks or congregated mailboxes.

NOTE: This is a moving operation; work will take place on the shoulder. No lane closures are necessary.

Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

One Way Traffic Control on State Route 35 in San Mateo County

One Way Traffic Control on State Route 35 in San Mateo County


San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will implement one-way traffic control on a segment of State Route 35 at post mile 23.037 to post mile 22.853 in San Mateo County between the hours of 9:30am to 3:30pm in both the northbound and southbound directions, starting Monday, June 9, 2014 through Friday, June 20, 2014. The one-way traffic control will enable maintenance crews to perform brush cutting and tree trimming for motorist sight distance, fire hazards and the safety of bicyclist and pedestrians.

Maintenance crews will begin the first week with the northbound direction June 9 to June 13. The second week will continue with the southbound direction from June 16 to June 20.

Detour for eastbound motorist:

Route 92 eastbound vehicles traveling to northbound 280, continue eastbound on Route 92, travel under highway 280 to circle ramp to northbound 280.  

One lane will remain open to motorists during this maintenance service

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes. Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Daytime One-Way Traffic Control on State Route 84 from Fox Hill Road to Junction 35 in San Mateo County

Daytime One-Way Traffic Control on State Route 84 from Fox Hill Road to Junction 35 in San Mateo County


San Mateo County- Caltrans maintenance and landscape crews will implement one-way traffic control on a segment of State Route 84, between Fox Hill Road and Old La Honda Road, starting the week of Monday, May 19, 2014, through Friday, May 23, 2014, between the hours of 9:00am to 3:00pm. Crews will start in the westbound direction and then switch to the eastbound direction. The one-way traffic control will enable crews to perform brush cutting for control of invasive weeds, to clear and establish sight distance through corners and around driveways/turnouts. This will improve motorist safety.

The same procedure will take place the following week of Monday, May 26, 2014 through Friday, May 30, 2014 with the same hours.

This maintenance operation will not hinder pedestrian traffic or cyclist from accessing State Route 84.

Motorist can expect a minimal delay of less than five minutes. One lane will remain open to motorists during this operation with flaggers and signage in place to help guide motorist through the work area. Please drive carefully and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.

Emergency Repair Work to Begin on State Route 84 in Redwood City (San Mateo County)

San Mateo – Caltrans will begin emergency repair work on State Route 84 from Bay Road to El Camino Real in Redwood City. This work will take place in multiple locations in the numbers 1 & 2 lanes in both the Eastbound and Westbound directions for 4 consecutive nights, starting tonight, May 13, through Friday, night, May 16, between the hours of 9:00 pm to 6:00 am.

This closure will allow work crews to repair deteriorated asphalt for 2 miles along State Route 84.

Signage will be posted to help guide motorist through the construction zone.
One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.

Motorists should expect travel delay and allow more time to reach their destination. Drive cautiously through the construction zone. Leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Slope Repair Project to Begin on State Route 35 in San Mateo County

Slope Repair Project to Begin on State Route 35 in San Mateo County

San Mateo County – Caltrans will begin a Slope Repair Project on State Route 35, at post mile 13.1, near Sky Londa, at the north junction Bear Gulch Road (Skyline Boulevard) in San Mateo County, Monday, May 12, 2014, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The scope of the project will include the construction of a soldier pile wall, as well as the installation of a metal beam guardrail.

On May 12, the contractor will begin installing concrete safety barriers to protect motorists and construction crews during construction.  Preparation for one-way traffic control signals will also begin on the same day. One-way traffic control signals will be activated on May 19 or May 20, and will operate 24 hours a day, for the duration of construction. One lane will remain open to motorists.

Since there are bike riders in the area, please be careful while riding within the vicinity of the construction area.

This Slope Repair Project will be completed in July 2014. (Weather Permitting)

San Mateo County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled the following lane closures for the week of April 7, 2014, through April 13, 2014 as part of the Route 82 (El Camino Real) Smart Corridor project.

Caltrans crews will install an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) system that provides traffic management tools to manage traffic on local streets and State Route 82. Improvements include, a fiber optic communication system, interconnection of local and State traffic signals, trailblazer signs, message signs, vehicle detection systems and fixed cameras. This system will run from the City of San Bruno to Redwood City.

Partners include: (C/CAG) City and County of Associated Governments of San Mateo County, US Department of Transportation-Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the following Cities, San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City.

Construction is expected to be completed in October, 2014. (Weather Permitting)

Emergency Lane Closure on State Route 84 in Redwood City

  

San Mateo County – A T & T will be performing emergency utility work on State Route 84 (Woodside Road) at post mile 23.609 in Redwood City tonight between the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The emergency work is necessary so service will be restored to local customers.

Crews need to access the manhole opening between lanes 1 & 2 in the Eastbound direction only. One lane will remain open to traffic during the closure.

Weekly Lane Closures for the San Mateo County Route 82
Smart Corridor Project
                         
San Mateo County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled the following lane closures for the week of March 24, 2014, through March 30, 2014 as part of the Route 82 (El Camino Real) Smart Corridor project.

Caltrans crews will install an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) system that provides traffic management tools to manage traffic on local streets and State Route 82. Improvements include, a fiber optic communication system, interconnection of local and State traffic signals, trailblazer signs, message signs, vehicle detection systems and fixed cameras. This system will run from the City of San Bruno to Redwood City.

Partners include: (C/CAG) City and County of Associated Governments of San Mateo County, US Department of Transportation-Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the following Cities, San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City.

Construction is expected to be completed in October, 2014. (Weather Permitting)
