Off-ramp Closures for Earthquake Related Pavement Repair

Saturday, August 30^th Starting at 7 a.m.

NAPA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is performing pavement repair related to Sundays earthquake on State Route 29 at First Street in Napa. 

For worker and public safety, the northbound and southbound offramp from First Street onto State Route 29 will be closed. The work is scheduled to be performed Saturday August 30^th at 7 A.M. until 3 P.M.

Motorist are advised to use Imola Avenue.

Bay Area Bridges and Roadways Safe after Earthquake

Sonoma/Napa—The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has inspected Bay Area state highways and structures following this morning’s earthquake. All damage appears to be minor; the damage on Highway 121 and Cuttings Wharf Road in Napa has been temporarily repaired; crews will continue to monitor the location as it remains open to traffic. 

All toll crossing have been inspected and no damage or concerns have been discovered.  All toll crossings and toll facilities are fully operational with no mobility restrictions.

NAPA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform pavement repair work on eastbound State Route 121 (SR-121) at Stanly Lane in the City of Napa starting on Tuesday, August 19 at 7 p.m. until Wednesday, August 20 at 4 a.m.

Detour-Eastbound State Route 121 at Stanly Lane in Napa  

To ensure worker and public safety during the work, eastbound SR-121 will be closed at Stanly Lane in the City of Napa. Motorists heading eastbound on SR-121 will be detoured to northbound Stanly Lane, then to Imola Avenue/SR-121, motorists can then enter either northbound or southbound State Route 29 from Imola Avenue/SR-121.

Detour Signs will be posted.

Westbound SR-121 will remain open.

NAPA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is continuing work to replace the Highway 121-Capell Creek Bridge in Napa County. The bridge is located on Highway 121 approximately 17 miles northeast of Downtown Napa.

Motorists may encounter slow-traffic on Highway 121 on and approaching the Capell Creek Bridge as construction trucks will be delivering materials to the project site on Friday, August 8 between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The project will replace the existing Capell Creek Bridge, which has become worn over time, with a new single-span bridge.

To ensure public and worker safety, one-way traffic controls will remain in effect on the bridge and its approaches on Highway 121 in northeast Napa County during regular work with flaggers on-site during the busy delivery of materials on Friday, August 8.  

Normal construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

During one-way traffic controls, crews will alternate closures on northbound and southbound Highway 121 near the Capell Creek Bridge to allow one-lane of traffic to proceed at a time. During the traffic controls, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

Please slow for flaggers and construction crews. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.

Caltrans Maintenance Work

Scheduled Starts in August

  

NAPA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to remove approximately 15 trees along southbound Highway 29 just north of the Napa County town of Rutherford in early August. The trees are located on the shoulders adjacent to southbound Highway 29.  

The trees have been identified as extensively decayed or dying, and could pose a potential hazard to passing motorists if not removed. 

The major maintenance effort is scheduled to start during the month of August and will take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete.

Work will start each day Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. All work is weather permitting. Caltrans will notify the public once specific work days are confirmed.  

To ensure worker and public safety during the work, occasional one-way traffic controls may be necessary.

During one-way traffic controls, flaggers will alternate traffic on northbound and southbound Highway 29. One lane will remain open at all times. However, motorists should allow for extra travel time and expect delays.

NAPA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform painting and cleaning work on the 1^st Street overcrossing which crosses over Highway 29 in the City of Napa during five nights starting Monday, May 19^th.

To ensure worker and public safety, the northbound onramp onto Highway 29 from First Street in Napa, and one of two lanes of northbound Highway 29 near 1st Street will be closed during the work.

The closures will be in effect each night Monday, May 19^th, Tuesday, May 20^th, Wednesday May 21^st, Thursday, May 22^nd, Tuesday, May 27^th and Wednesday, May 28th. The closures will start each night at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following mornings.

Detour-State Route 29 at First Street in Napa,

Motorists heading onto northbound Highway 29 from First Street will be detoured to the Lincoln Street overcrossing. Detour signs will be posted. All work is weather permitting.

NAPA COUNTY - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform paving work on State Route 29 (SR-29) at various locations in Napa County during four consecutive nights starting Sunday, April 6^th until the morning of Thursday, April 10^th.

Detour-State Route 29 at First Street in Napa, Sunday, April 6^th 

To ensure worker and public safety, the southbound onramp onto State Route 29 from First Street in Napa will be closed on Sunday, April 6^th starting at 6 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday, April 7^th. Detour signs will be posted.

Motorists heading onto southbound SR-29 from First Street will be detoured to the northbound First Street onramp, then to the northbound Lincoln offramp, then to the southbound Lincoln onramp, and back onto southbound SR-29.  

Lane Reductions-Various Locations-Monday, April 7th-Thursday, April 9th

Work will also be performed at the following locations with lane reductions and start each night at 6 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following mornings. All work is weather permitting.

NAPA and SOLANO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will implement ongoing lane striping work as part of the Highway 12-Jameson Canyon widening project in Napa and Solano Counties.

The striping requires crews to alternate lane closures on eastbound and westbound Highway 12 between the Napa/Solano County line and Highway 29. One lane of traffic on Highway 12-Jameson Canyon will remain open at all times. This phase of work started the morning of Tuesday, March 11th and will be completed on Friday, March 14^th.  The alternating lane closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. All work is weather permitting.

Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel times.

Overnight Closures Scheduled For Week of January 13^th

NAPA AND SOLANO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will place safety barriers and stripe new sections of roadway as crews work to widen Highway 12 through Jameson Canyon in Napa and Solano Counties during the week of January 13^th.

The work is in preparation of a major traffic switch near the Napa/Solano County Line which could on or after January 16th. The switch will put existing traffic on a new section of future westbound Highway 12. The work will also allow crews to complete this latest phase of construction which includes the final retaining wall.

Full Overnight Highway Closures-Starting Monday, January 13th

For the safety of crews and the motoring public, three nights of full highway closures on Highway 12 between Highway 29 and Red Top Road are scheduled starting January 13th. The full highway closures are scheduled to start on Monday, January 13^th until the morning of Thursday, January 16^th at 5 a.m. Closures will start each night Monday through Wednesday at 11 p.m. and conclude the following mornings at 5 a.m. All work is weather permitting.

Highway 12-Jameson Canyon Detour

During the overnight highway closures, eastbound Highway 12 motorists are advised to use southbound Highway 29 to eastbound Highway 37 to eastbound Interstate 80. Westbound Highway 12 motorists should use westbound Interstate 80 to westbound Highway 37 to northbound Highway 29.

Local access is available for Jameson Canyon residents and emergency vehicles only. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will help direct motorists. Caltrans will also install changeable message signs. Motorists should allow for extra travel time. Weather permitting the entire project could be completed as early as summer 2014.

This latest stage of work in Solano County will require paving on eastbound and westbound Highway 12 between the Solano/Napa county line and Red Top Road on Tuesday, January 7^th and Wednesday, January 8^th. The work is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and be completed by 3 p.m. each day.

Caltrans is planning to keep traffic lanes in both eastbound and westbound directions open during the work. However, the scope of construction may cause some motorists to travel at slower speeds. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel times. All work is weather permitting.

Maintenance Work For The Tunnel Of Elms

State Route 12-St. Helena

NAPA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation, (Caltrans), is scheduled to provide routine maintenance for the Tunnel of Elms located on State Route 29 in St. Helena.  The maintenance work will include: removal of six structurally weakened elm trees, trimming of trees to provide vertical and horizontal safety clearance for traffic, and additional routine maintenance work. 

The maintenance work will begin, if weather permits, on Monday, December 16^th, from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm through Friday, December 20^th. One-way traffic control will be in place with the use of flaggers. Motorists are advised to expect delays and encouraged to take alternate routes if necessary.

Changeable message signs will be placed along State Route 29 (St. Helena Highway) to advise motorists of the time and location of the maintenance work being performed.

Some paving days scheduled earlier this month were postponed due to cold weather.

This latest phase of work is scheduled to start on Monday, December 16th and be completed Tuesday, December 24th^th. Eastbound lane reductions will be in effect from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.  All work is weather permitting
