Highway 12-Jameson Canyon
Overnight Closures Scheduled For Week of January 13th
NAPA AND SOLANO COUNTIES – The California Department of
Transportation (Caltrans) will place safety barriers and stripe new sections of
roadway as crews work to widen Highway 12 through Jameson Canyon in Napa and
Solano Counties during the week of January 13th.
The work is
in preparation of a major traffic switch near the Napa/Solano County Line which
could on or after January 16th. The switch will put existing traffic on a new
section of future westbound Highway 12. The work will also allow crews to
complete this latest phase of construction which includes the final retaining
wall.
Full Overnight Highway Closures-Starting
Monday, January 13th
For the
safety of crews and the motoring public, three nights of full highway closures
on Highway 12 between Highway 29 and Red Top Road are scheduled starting
January 13th. The full highway closures are scheduled to start on Monday, January
13th until the morning of Thursday, January 16th at 5 a.m.
Closures will start each night Monday through Wednesday at 11 p.m. and conclude
the following mornings at 5 a.m. All work is weather permitting.
Highway 12-Jameson Canyon Detour
During the
overnight highway closures, eastbound Highway 12 motorists are advised to use
southbound Highway 29 to eastbound Highway 37 to eastbound Interstate 80.
Westbound Highway 12 motorists should use westbound Interstate 80 to westbound
Highway 37 to northbound Highway 29.
Local access
is available for Jameson Canyon residents and emergency vehicles only. The
California Highway Patrol (CHP) will help direct motorists. Caltrans will also
install changeable message signs. Motorists should allow for extra travel time.
Weather permitting the entire project could be completed as early as summer
2014.
