One-Way Traffic Control To Begin for State Route 1 Projects

Marin and Sonoma Counties – This week Caltrans is beginning one-way traffic control at several locations on State Route 1.

Marin County
  • On Monday, June 16, Caltrans will begin installation of a traffic signal on State Route 1 at Cypress Road near Point Reyes Station in Marin County. When the signal is installed, one-way traffic control will be in effect this summer and fall during construction of a slope repair project.

    • This process of building a soldier pile wall will involve drilling 36 shafts at seven and a half foot (7’-6”) intervals, inserting a steel beam at each shaft, and backfilling with concrete. The area behind the steel beams will be excavated in stages, and timber lagging will be installed between the steel beams. The roadway will be widened as well.

·         On Wednesday, June 18, Caltrans will reenergize the traffic signal on State Route 1 just south of Fort Ross.  One-way traffic control will be in effect for about three months to stabilize the uphill side of the highway by placing rock slope protection.
