Upcoming Closures on Interstate 680 in Contra Costa County

Contra Costa – Caltrans (District 4) has scheduled closures in Contra Costa County on 680 northbound to the Highway 24 westbound connector for pavement construction activities. These activities involve the application of a sealant in order to prolong the life of the roadway.

·         Two lanes will be closed on I-680 at Newell Undercrossing Tuesday night, May 21, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

·         The northbound I-680 connector ramp to westbound Highway 24 will be closed Wednesday night, May 22, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This work is weather dependent, and if delayed due to weather conditions will be rescheduled. Please drive cautiously through the construction zone and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.

Drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible. Please drive cautiously and remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
