SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is starting a paving rehabilitation project on northbound and southbound Highway 84 between Highway 12 near the Rio Vista Bridge and the Cache Slough Ferry/Real McCoy Ferry Slip in Solano County.

The work is scheduled to start on Tuesday, September 3rd and be completed by Friday, October 25th.  Work will start each day Monday through Friday at 6 a.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. All work is weather permitting.
To ensure public and worker safety, one-way traffic controls will be in effect on Highway 84 between Rio Vista and the Real McCoy Ferry Slip. Crews will alternate lane closures in both northbound and southbound directions. This will allow one lane on the highway to remain open during the work.
Flaggers will help direct traffic. Caltrans will also install portable message signs alerting drivers to the project. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Caltrans to Close San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge

Throughout Labor Day Weekend

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA – Caltrans is urging travelers who will be making a trip to the San Francisco Bay Area during Labor Day weekend to plan ahead, choose an alternate route now, and allow plenty of extra travel time because the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge will be closed.

The bridge will be shut down from 8 p.m., August 28, until 5 a.m., September 3, while workers take the bridge’s original East Span out of service and open the new bridge to traffic. Anyone interested in more details about the closure should visit http://baybridgeinfo.org/, or call 511 for traffic updates or visit http://511.org/ to find out which other Bay Area bridges are available as detour routes.

Nearly 300,000 motorists daily cross the iconic bridge that connects San Francisco with Oakland, Berkeley, and other East Bay cities.

Thanks to the public heeding previous warnings, Caltrans successfully closed the bridge without significant traffic backups during Labor Day weekends in 2006, 2007, and 2009. Taking advantage of historically light traffic on the bridge during the holiday weekend helps minimize disruptions to motorists, residents, and businesses.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

U.S. 101 Airport Blvd. Interchange Project
Recommended Detour for Northbound U.S. 101 Airport Blvd. Off-Ramp

SONOMA COUNTY – Caltrans has issued the following traffic advisory for airport passengers and visitors attending the Wings over Wine Country Air Show at the Charles M. Schultz-Sonoma County Airport on August 17th and 18th, 2013.

Approximately 10,000 visitors are expected each day for the Wings over Wine County Air Show.  Since the U.S. 101 Airport Boulevard Interchange is an active construction project, and the northbound Airport Boulevard off-ramp is closed for construction, airport passengers and air show visitors should expect delays and allow additional time to reach their destination.

Detour: Due to expected high demand on the northbound Fulton Road off-ramp, motorists are advised to detour to the Shiloh Road off-ramp, turn left, cross over the freeway, merge right onto the on-ramp for southbound U.S. 101, and proceed to the southbound Airport Boulevard off-ramp. Southbound U.S. 101 travelers can proceed to the southbound Airport Boulevard off-ramp as usual.

For more information about the U.S. 101 Airport Boulevard Interchange project, visit the webpage at www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/101airportblvd/. For information about ongoing construction activities, call the message line at (707) 781-2245. Follow us on Twitter: Caltrans District 4 @Sonoma101
