Davis Street Demolition and Full Freeway Closure

ALAMEDA, CA – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin demolition work on the Davis Street bridge in San Leandro. The demolition work will start as early as July 7^th 2014 and continue until July 24^th 2014 .

The majority of the work will be performed at night with lane closures on I-880. Lane closures and full freeway closures will be in both the northbound 880 and southbound

880 directions. Full freeway closures will be in one direction only each night. The lane closure hours are 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM on weeknights and 10:00PM - 8:00 AM on weekend nights. Demolition may occur between any of the above mentioned hours.

Full Freeway Closure Hours: Northbound 880:

•     Weeknights 12:01 AM - 4:00 AM,

•     12:01 AM - 5:00 AM on Friday night/Saturday morning

•     12:01AM - 7:00AM on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Southbound 880:

•     Weeknights 12:01AM - 4:00AM

•     12:01 AM - 6:00 AM on Friday night/Saturday morning.

•     12:01 AM - 7:00 AM on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Detour

The detours will take all freeway traffic off I-880 at Davis Street off-ramp and direct them across Davis Street onto the on-ramp.

During demolition residents are expected to have increased levels of noise. Motorists should expect delays during full freeway closure hours and are advised to use alternative routes if possible. LITTER CLEAN-UP AND ENFORCEMENT DAY

“Don’t Trash California” 

Caltrans and CHP increase awareness

(OAKLAND)- Caltrans and the CHP are teaming up to increase awareness of litter clean-up and enforcement efforts on Tuesday, September 17th, 2013. The day-long joint-agency effort starts in the morning with highway message signs throughout the Bay Area reminding everyone:  “Don’t Trash California”. 

Orange litter bags will be piled-up at various locations along our highways with media ride-along opportunities available with CHP and Caltrans crews.

Caltrans maintenance crews throughout the nine Bay Area counties will focus their efforts throughout the day on cleaning-up litter left alongside the highways. CHP will focus on vehicle enforcement and reminds drivers that law enforcement throughout the Bay Area will be on the lookout for litterers.   

“The CHP and Caltrans have worked together in committing resources and personnel towards targeting commercial and private vehicles which violate litter laws,” said CHP Lieutenant, Tim Westcott. “Our role is to provide enforcement efforts focused on uncovered loads, improperly maintained equipment, and material being spilled or thrown onto the roadway.”

“Caltrans and the CHP hope this Tuesday’s event will raise awareness among all drivers that litter is not only unsightly, it’s not safe and it costs taxpayers a lot of money,” said Caltrans District 4 Director Bijan Sartipi. “Last year, Caltrans spent about $50 million statewide cleaning up litter. Crews also collected enough trash to fill more than 8,000 garbage trucks.”

San Francisco/Daly City (8:30 a.m. until 11a.m.)

Northbound and Southbound Highway 101 Sierra Point to Candlestick

Eastbound and Southbound Highway 380 between Millbrae and Daly City

Northbound Highway 238 under the I-580 Overcrossing

FULL FREEWAY NIGHT CLOSURES SCHEDULED ON S/B LANES OF I-880 IN SAN LEANDRO AT DAVIS ST.

FULL FREEWAY NIGHT CLOSURES SCHEDULED ON
S/B LANES OF I-880 IN SAN LEANDRO AT DAVIS ST.

ALAMEDA COUNTY – Caltrans will conduct a full, one-night closure of southbound Interstate 880 (I-880) Monday, Aug. 19^th, from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. at Davis Street to install falsework structure for the new Davis Street (State Route 112 Separation) Bridge.

Detour information:  During the closure, all freeway traffic will be detoured at s/b Davis St. off ramp, and directed right back onto the freeway at Davis St. on ramp. Flaggers will be posted at the construction zone to assist motorists detouring on and off the freeway. Davis St. will be closed to through traffic passing over I-880.

Expect minor delays as motorists are safely directed through the construction zone.

HIGH STREET ONRAMP TO NORTHBOUND I-880 CLOSED THIS WEEKEND FOR RESURFACING

HIGH STREET ONRAMP TO NORTHBOUND I-880
CLOSED THIS WEEKEND FOR RESURFACING

ALAMEDA COUNTY – A 36-hour closure of the High Street onramp on northbound (NB) Interstate 880 (I-880) will take effect Friday, March 1, 2013 from 11 p.m., to Sunday, March 3, until 11 a.m.

Construction crews are expected to complete the final asphalt concrete resurfacing of the onramp during the closure. Once completed, the High Street onramp will be a two-lane ramp, instead of the existing one-lane ramp.

Detour routes are as follows (see attached detour map):

·         I-880-NB motorists are advised to use the accessible section of the 42^nd Avenue onramp, which will remain open during construction operations during the weekend closure. Please travel along High Street to San Leandro Street; proceed to 40^th Avenue to East 12^th Street to access 42^nd Avenue onramp to NB I-880.

·         Motorists leaving the City of Alameda are advised to use the Fruitvale Bridge before entering the Oakland to bypass the closure. Alameda motorists should also use the Fruitvale Bridge to East 9^th Street to reach NB I-880.

The 36-hour closure is necessary to allow construction crews to safely stage equipment and complete resurfacing construction, while allowing personnel to complete their work safely and with minimal impact to freeway travelers. Nighttime mainline closures on NB and SB I-880 are expected to continue through March 2013

Motorists are strongly urged to drive cautiously through this construction zone and to always leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.  Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to improve the highways.  Please remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
