FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

U.S. 101 / State Route 116 Construction in Petaluma
Full Freeway Closures Begin Tonight at U.S. 101 Petaluma Boulevard S. Interchange

Petaluma, Sonoma County – Caltrans has scheduled full freeway closures for U.S. 101 at the Petaluma Boulevard South interchange from Wednesday, September 25th through Friday, September 27th, to install falsework to begin construction of the new interchange. Falsework is a temporary structure that will support the components of a bridge during construction.

Caltrans has scheduled the following full freeway closures:

  • Northbound U.S. 101 will be closed Wednesday night, September 25th, and Thursday night, September 26th, from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m. One southbound lane for U.S. 101 will also be closed during this work.

    • Detour: Follow construction detour signs. During this closure, Caltrans will temporarily reopen the former Petaluma Boulevard South off-ramp. Motorists will exit at Petaluma Boulevard South, continue to the northbound Petaluma Boulevard South on-ramp, and return to the freeway.
    • Note: the southbound U.S. 101 Petaluma Boulevard S. on-ramp and off-ramp will remain open during this northbound U.S. 101 closure.

  • Southbound U.S. 101 will be closed Friday night, September 27th, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

    • Detour: Exit at State Route (SR) 116, turn left on Lakeville Highway, continue to SR 37, turn right, and continue to U.S. 101.
    • Note: both the on-ramp and off-ramp for southbound U.S. 101 at Petaluma Boulevard S. will be closed during the full freeway closure. The northbound on-ramp and off-ramp for U.S. 101 at Petaluma Boulevard S. will remain open.
