FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

State Route 152 Pavement Preservation Project
Santa Clara County-Near Gilroy

The Caltrans Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is starting a grind and pave construction project on SR-152 from U.S. 101 to SR-156, near the City of Gilroy. The primary work will involve grinding out the existing pavement and overlaying it with a new layer of hot mix asphalt. In addition, new rumble strips will be installed along the median and outside shoulders.

These activities will produce some levels of unavoidable noise; however, it will be kept to within construction standards.

Most construction activities will occur during the nighttime on weekdays, with lane closures in effect between 8 PM and 7 AM of the following day. There will be various freeway and ramp closures during this project; however, Caltrans will always provide at least one open lane in either direction of travel and never close two consecutive ramps. Flaggers will be present to provide one-way traffic control during lane closures as needed. The project is expected to be completed this summer 2015.

Planned Ramp Closures, 6/25/15 – 6/27/15

Closure: Northbound U.S. 101 off-ramp to Eastbound SR-152

Detour: Take northbound U.S.101 off-ramp to Leavesley Road to southbound U.S. 101 on-ramp to connector off-ramp to eastbound SR152

Closure: Westbound SR-152 on-ramp to northbound Sr-152

Detour: Take connector off-ramp to southbound U.S. 101 to Monterey St to loop on-ramp to northbound U.S. 101.

Advance warning changeable message signs and detour signs are in place to assist motorists traveling in the area.
