Highway 1-Tom Lantos Tunnels
One-Way
Traffic Controls Next Two Nights
SAN MATEO COUNTY – The California Department of
Transportation (Caltrans) will
need to perform
paving and striping of the permanent approaches of the recently opened Highway
1-Tom Lantos Tunnels. The affected approaches are just south of the new
tunnels. The overnight work is scheduled for two nights starting tonight at 7
p.m.
Thursday, April 11th-Lane
Closures Overnight
To ensure
worker and public safety, tonight’s one-way traffic controls will be in effect
on Highway 1 in the area just south of the Tom Lantos Tunnels. The work begins
tonight, April 11th at 7 p.m. and will be completed the following morning at 7
a.m.
During
one-way traffic controls, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times with
flaggers alternating northbound and southbound traffic. All work is weather
permitting.
Friday, April 12th-Alternating
Tunnel Closures Overnight
As part of
the Friday, April 12th work, crews will alternate traffic through
one bore at a time of the Tom Lantos Tunnels. The work will start on Friday at
9 p.m. and be completed by 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 13th. During the
alternating tunnel closures, traffic will be directed into either the northbound
or southbound tunnel with one of the tunnels closed during the work.
Motorists
should allow for extra travel time.
