State Route 82 El Camino Real Drainage Project in Burlingame

San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin a drainage project at 735 El Camino Real, at Camino Gables on February 25, 2013. (weather permitting). This storm damaged repair project will upgrade 2 existing drainage inlets with 8 new inlets in the southbound direction at post mile 13.7 between the intersection of Oak Grove Avenue and Floribunda Avenue in Burlingame.

The new drainage system will connect into an existing culvert. This new drainage system will help alleviate any future flooding within this location.

Tree protection will be installed to protect the eucalyptus trees along the property. A 6 foot chainlink fence will be replaced adjacent to the sidewalk over the existing culvert at final construction.

Construction is expected to take 30 working days (weather permitting). Crews will be closing the southbound far right lane. The southbound traffic will be diverted over to the center traffic lane which will remain open at all times. Traffic control will be in effect during construction. Crews will begin work as early as 8:00 am. to 4:00 pm.
Changeable Message Signs are present to warn motorist and pedestrians of construction activities and closures.
Note: Construction activities will begin when the weather forecast reveals two or more consecutive weeks of dry weather.

Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to use alternate routes. Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
