FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ongoing Construction for the State Route 82 Smart Corridor Project

San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will continue construction on the State Route 82 (El Camino Real) San Mateo County Smart Corridor Project extending 20 miles through 10 San Mateo County cities. Construction crews are installing an Intelligent Transportation System which will enable Caltrans and local agencies to manage day to day traffic on local streets and also facilitate local traffic impacts due to major incidents on the freeway.
Construction will have mostly daytime closures, Monday through Friday. Daytime construction can start as early as 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Some night work will be required between the hours of 8:00 pm. to 6:00 am. One way traffic control will be in effect with one lane always open to traffic. Construction noise will be inevitable; however, it will always be kept to approved levels.
The project started September, 2012 and is expected to be completed, September, 2013.
Changeable Message Signs are present to warn motorist of construction activities and closures.

Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to use alternate routes. Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
