Time Work To Begin On Tree Removal Along Highway 101 At Lakeville
Petaluma– Weather permitting,
beginning this Saturday, February 9, 2013, the California Department of
Transportation (Caltrans) will begin removing trees along northbound Highway
101 and the northbound on-ramp from Lakeville Highway to Highway 101. The trees
will be removed to make room for a proposed soundwall along with other
interchange improvements.
The Lakeville Highway/Redwood Highway
Interchange project is one of the first phases for the Marin Sonoma Narrows
(MSN) Corridor High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane project from Route 37 in
Novato to just south of Old Redwood Highway in Petaluma.
The tree removal will require a complete
closure of the northbound on-ramp to Highway 101 from Lakeville Highway (Route
116E) and a closure of the northbound right lane of Highway 101. This work is
expected to take a little over 2 weeks from the start date, weather permitting.
Caltrans has limited the tree removal work hours to before 11:00 pm in an
effort to minimize noise disturbances. The work cannot be performed during daytime
hours due to high traffic volumes on Highway 101 and the northbound Onramp from
Highway 116 (Lakeville Rd.).
Lane Closure Schedule

northbound Highway 101 closure
7pm-12 Midnight closure, starting 02/09/13

Night time tree removals are dangerous, you need a sufficient source of light or else you could lose a limb! No pun intended.

There is definitely a balance when trimming a tree. You need to cut off enough so it doesn't damage the house. However, you also need to leave enough on the tree for it to survive. I would worry about trimming at night.
