J-Mack Ferry-Cable Repair Work
Scheduled Daytime Closure
Wednesday, March 2, 2016-9:30AM until 1:00PM

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily close the J-Mack Ferry in the Delta to replace the ferry’s underwater cable which has become worn over time.

The J-Mack is scheduled to close starting Wednesday, March 2 at 9:30 AM until 1:00PM that same day.

The J-Mack Ferry runs on a cable across Steamboat Slough between Ryer Island in Solano County and Sacramento County.

It provides around the clock service on State Route 220.

During the closure, motorists are advised to use the Real McCoy Ferry, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry along State Route 84.

NAPA COUNTY – Caltrans and its local stakeholders are continuing construction of the State Route 29 (SR-29) Channelization Project in and near St. Helena in Napa County.

Below is the two week project update.

WEEK STARTING FEBRUARY 28, 2016
• Site-wide traffic delineation maintenance between Mee Lane and Charter Oak Avenue
• Site-wide storm water pollution prevention maintenance btwn Mee Lane & Charter Oak Avenue
Work is scheduled 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. No daytime closures anticipated.

Night Work
• Underground drainage utility work (Hall Winery) btwn Inglewood Avenue & Sulphur Springs AV
• Curb and gutter reconstruction at Sulphur Springs Avenue
• Sewer repair work at Charter Oak Avenue to Sulphur Creek Bridge

Work for the Charter Oak sewer repair is scheduled 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Sunday-Thursday. Underground electrical work at Stice Lane is 7:00 PM until 6:00AM, Monday-Wednesday.

Nighttime one-way traffic control will be in effect. Delays of up to 5 minutes are expected.

WEEK STARTING MARCH 6, 2016
•Site-wide traffic delineation maintenance between Mee Lane and Charter Oak Avenue.

Lane and Ramp Closures-Week of February 29, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various maintenance work including weed abatement, brush and tree trimming, and litter removal on Interstate 680 (I-680), Interstate 780 (I-780) and Interstate 80 (I-80) in Benicia and Vallejo starting Monday, February 29.

Work starts at 9:00 AM and concludes at 2:00 PM each day, and is weather permitting.

Monday, February 29-East 5th Street Offramp-I-780 Benicia:
To ensure public and worker safety, crews will close the off ramp from eastbound I-780 to East 5th Street on February 29. Motorists will be detoured onto northbound I-680 to Bayshore Avenue, to southbound I-680, then onto East 5th Street.

Tuesday, March 1-eastbound I-80 connector to eastbound I-780 Vallejo:
The connector ramp from eastbound I-80 to eastbound I-780 will be closed on March 1.
Motorists will be detoured onto westbound I-780 to eastbound I-780.

Wednesday, March 2- Magazine Street Offramp-I-80 Vallejo:
The Magazine Street offramp from eastbound I-80 will be closed on March 2. Motorists will be detoured to westbound I-780, to westbound I-80, then onto Magazine Street.

Thursday, March 3-westbound I-780 Benicia/Vallejo:
The far right lane of westbound I-780 between Military West and Columbus Parkway will be closed on March 3.

Lane and Ramp Closures-Week of February 22, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform pavement survey work and major maintenance at various locations on Interstate 680 (I-680) and Interstate 780 (I-780) in Benicia and Vallejo.

The work starts at 9:00 AM and concludes at 2:00 PM each day. All work is weather permitting.

Tuesday, February 23-Lane Closed-I-680 Benicia:
Caltrans will perform asphalt testing on I-680 between Parish and Marshview Roads.

To ensure public and worker safety, crews will alternate closures of one of two lanes on northbound I-680 followed by closure of one of two lanes on southbound I-680.

Wednesday, February 24-Alternating Lane Closure-I-680/I-780 Connector Benicia:
One of two lanes on the northbound I-680 connector to westbound I-780 up to East 5th Street will be closed on Wednesday, February 24 for landscape work and litter removal.

Thursday, February 25-East 2nd Street Onramp Closed Benicia:
The onramp from East 2nd Street to eastbound I-780 in Benicia will be closed on February 25 for landscape work and litter removal.

Motorists headed onto eastbound I-780 from southbound East 2nd Street will be detoured to Military Road East, then East 5th Street and onto eastbound I-780. Motorists headed onto eastbound I-780 from northbound East 2nd Street will be detoured to westbound I-780, then to Southampton Road and onto eastbound I-780.

Crews will also perform landscape and litter removal on the shoulders of eastbound and westbound I-780 near the Vallejo/Benicia city limit February 22 and February 23.

U.S. 101/Broadway San Mateo Co-Traffic Switch March 4-6

Phase Three of U.S. 101/Broadway Interchance
Watch for Temporary Ramp and Lane Configuration Changes
Starts March 4-6, 2016


SAN MATEO COUNTY-Caltrans will begin Phase 3 of the 101/Broadway Interchange Project.

Beginning on the weekend of March 4-6, 2016 between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, the intersection of Broadway and Rollins Road will close to switch traffic from the existing Broadway Overcrossing to the new Broadway Overcrossing.

The existing bridge will be demolished shortly after tra c has been switched over to the new structure.

The demolition of the bridge must be done during night-time hours to allow for full-highway closures of U.S. Highway 101 on two consecutive weekends.

Route 101 southbound will close Saturday and Sunday mornings between1:00 AM
and 7:00 AM, March 12–13. Route 101 northbound will close Saturday and Sunday mornings between 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM, March 19–20.

Traffic will be detoured onto local streets (detours will be clearly marked). Various lane and ramp closures will also be necessary for this work.

Changeable message signs will be posted to notify motorists of the
upcoming closure.

The temporary traffic configuration will be in effect for approximately 10 months. Motorists should expect significant delays and are encouraged to consider alternate routes during this construction.

NOTE: The Bridge will be demolished with heavy equipment. Local residents and businesses may
experience increased noise levels. This construction work is weather dependent.

SOLANO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily suspend service of the Real McCoy II Ferry to perform follow-up preventive maintenance.

The Real McCoy II is scheduled to be closed Thursday, February 18 at 10:00 PM until the morning of Friday, February 19 at 4:00 AM. All work is weather permitting.

The Real McCoy II also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the city of Rio Vista in Solano County.

The delta region ferry normally runs scheduled crossings every 20 minutes, on the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, and 40 minutes after the hour.

During Thursday’s overnight service interruption of the Real McCoy Ferry, motorists are advised to use the J-Mack Ferry on State Route 220 or the Miner Slough Bridge on State Route 84 to travel overnight between Ryer Island and neighboring communities in Sacramento and Solano counties.

The Real McCoy resumed regular service at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 16.
The Real McCoy II also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the City of Rio Vista in Solano County.

SOLANO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has temporarily suspended service of the Real McCoy II Ferry on State Route 84 (SR 84) in Solano County effective Thursday, February 11 until Wednesday, February 17.

Caltrans will make an announcement once a specific return time is scheduled.
During the closure, crews will conduct the vessel’s annual mandatory safety inspection.

During the service interruption of the Real McCoy, motorists are advised to use the J-Mack Ferry on State Route 220 (SR 220) or the Miner Slough Bridge State Route 84 (SR 84) as a detour.

One-Way Traffic Controls-Mandatory Inspections
Start Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Solano and Sacramento Counties – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform mandatory inspections of the Rio Vista Bridge on State Route 12 (SR-12) between Solano and Sacramento Counties.

The four days of inspections are scheduled each day starting Tuesday, February 16 through Friday, February 19. Crews will start the inspections beginning at 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM daily. All work is weather permitting.
The inspections are part of Caltrans’ preventive maintenance plan on the bridge.

To ensure public and worker safety, one-way traffic controls will be in effect. Crews will alternate lane closures in both eastbound and westbound directions. This will allow one lane on the bridge to remain open during the work. Flaggers will help direct traffic.

Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.
For boat and ship traffic, the bridge will operate normally for any vessels passing underneath it along the Sacramento River.

Caltrans to Repair Underground Drain Pipes on SR-87

Santa Clara County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will complete repairs to improve the drainage on the northbound SR-87 connector to I-280 in San Jose on Wednesday, February 10, from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The work will not require lane closures; however, portions of the right shoulder will be intermittently closed during low peak traffic hours. Caltrans will be installing new drainage pipes and replace sections of damaged guardrail.

No lane closures or detours will be required during this maintenance project

Nighttime Work Scheduled for Interstate 580 Rehabilitation Project in Oakland

Oakland, Alameda County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled overnight work through mid-March to conduct work on the Interstate 580 (I-580) Rehabilitation Project in Oakland.

Some of the work involves noise.

The general hours of the work will be:

• Sunday through Thursday, 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
• There will be intermittent lane and ramp closures during these hours throughout this phase of the project.
• Concrete will be poured for anchor blocks and barriers starting Monday, February 8 through Tuesday, February 17, barring weather delays. This work will start at I-580 near Hollis Street and continue east to Fruitvale Avenue. Work may be noisy.
• Other work tasks involve widening lanes, replacing guardrail, vegetation control, and installation of conduit and traffic operations systems.

Motorists should drive with caution through the work zone.

Intermittent Overnight Closures-Pavement Survey Work
Starts 10:00 PM Thursday, February 4, 2016

SOLANO and SONOMA COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform overnight pavement survey work on State Route 37 (SR-37) between Vallejo and the Solano/Sonoma county line.

The work is scheduled to start Thursday, February 4 at 10:00 PM and will conclude at 3:00 AM Friday, February 5. All work is weather permitting.
Intermittent State Route 37 Closures:

To ensure public and worker safety, intermittent overnight closures of SR-37 between the Mare Island exit in Vallejo and the Sonoma Creek Bridge at the Solano/Sonoma county line are scheduled.

Crews will close the highway in both directions 15 minutes at a time then reopen the highway to release traffic. CHP will help direct motorists in both eastbound and westbound directions. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.

Please drive cautiously and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.
