Caltrans Partners With CHP
CALTRANS DISTRICT 4 (BAY
AREA)- Caltrans and
the CHP will work together in a major effort against highway litter Wednesday,
June 12th, 2013. This is the 10th anniversary of the Litter Clean-Up
Event which started as a conversation about Litter Abatement between Caltrans,
the CHP, truck associations and various Bay Area cities.
Caltrans
maintenance crews throughout the nine Bay Area counties will focus their efforts
throughout the day on cleaning-up litter left alongside the highways. Caltrans
employees will be at some of these various locations around the Bay Area:
San Francisco (9:30 a.m. until 1p.m.)
Northbound
and Southbound Highway 101 from Sierra Point Exit
to
the Candlestick Park Exit.
Oakland-Alameda (9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.)
Northbound
and Southbound Highway 61(Doolittle Drive) between
Hegenberger
Road and Island Drive
San Rafael (10 a.m. until
1 p.m.)
Northbound
and Southbound Highway 101 over Alto Hill
and
also from Highway
131 to Tamalpais Drive
San Jose (9 a.m. until 1 p.m.)
Northbound
and Southbound Highway 101 from the 280/680 interchange to the 237/101

Last
fiscal year, Caltrans spent more than $52 million statewide on cleanup and
trash removal. During its one day event in 2012, Caltrans collected the
equivalent of 10,000 garbage trucks of trash which is equal to 51 miles of
trash. Contact Vince Jacala at (510) 286-5206 or Adam
