I-880
HOV PROJECT UPDATE
Santa Clara County - The California Department of
Transportation (Caltrans) is currently constructing an additional HOV lane on
I-880 as well as widening and realigning the on and off- ramps to I-880 at the
Brokaw Road Interchange. This project will reduce congestion along Interstate
880 between U.S. 101 and State Route 237 interchanges by adding approximately
4.6 miles of high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane in both directions as well as
improving the Brokaw Road Interchange.
Caltrans will
start grinding, paving and striping this area beginning this week through July,
2013. Work will be performed throughout the week including weekends from
9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. There will be various freeway lane and ramp closures
during this paving operation; however, Caltrans will always provide at least
one open lane in both directions of travel and will never close two consecutive
ramps.
Electronic
highway message signs and detour signs will be in place to assist motorists
traveling in the area.
Please drive cautiously when approaching
the construction area and “ Slow for the Cone Zone.”
