Caltrans and City of Vallejo Partner In
Major Maintenance
I-80 to Highway 37 Connector Work
Starts Monday
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation
(Caltrans) and the City of Vallejo will be working together in a joint effort
to improve safety for motorists traveling the busy Interstate 80 and Highway 37
interchange in Vallejo.
The five-day
major maintenance effort starts Monday, March 25th and will conclude on Friday,
March 29th. Work will start each day at
8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. All work is weather permitting.
Crews from
both Caltrans and the City of Vallejo will be trimming back overgrown trees,
making major guardrail repair, weeding, mowing and clearing-out trash and
debris along the I-80 and Highway 37 connector ramps and adjacent onramps.
This is the
fourth phase of a new partnership between Caltrans and the City of Vallejo to increase
maintenance efforts in the area as part of the “Vallejo Interagency
Partnership” VIP program.
To ensure
worker and public safety during the work, the following work will be in effect
from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day:
Monday, March 25th
Westbound I-80 to Highway 37
Connectors
Motorists are
advised to continue to watch for crews working on highway shoulders on
eastbound and westbound Highway 37 near Fairgrounds Drive. All lanes will be
open.
Tuesday, March 26th
Columbus Parkway Onramp to Highway 37
Columbus
Parkway onramp to westbound Highway 37 will be closed.
Wednesday, March 27th
Westbound I-80 Connector to
Fairgrounds Drive
The #2 lane
from the westbound I-80 connector to westbound Highway 37 will be closed.
Thursday, March 28th
Crews will be
working at various sites along Highway 37 near Fairgrounds Drive. All lanes and
ramps will remain open.
Friday, March 29th
All connector ramps from Highway 37 to
eastbound and westbound I-80
Sweeper
trucks will have moving closures on all connector ramps from highway 37 to I-80 at various times throughout the
day. Watch for moving closures.
Motorists
should allow for extra travel time and expect delays.
