 Caltrans Scheduled Lane Closures for Sonoma County During The Week of October 15, 2012

Sonoma County – Here are the planned Caltrans lane closures in Sonoma County for the week of October 15. All closures are weather dependent and subject to change.

U.S. Route 101

Various lanes closed from Rohnert Park Expressway to Todd Road from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Various lanes closed from Rohnert Park Expressway to Todd Road from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Various lanes closed between Corona Road to Rohnert Park from 7:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Southbound 101, between the Highway 128 on ramp and the Citrus Fair off ramp, #2 lane closed 24/7 until the end of October.

East Washington Street, Petaluma

Various lanes closed westbound East Washington Street between McDowell Boulevard and Southbound off ramp intersection beginning at 9:00 a.m. ending at 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Various lanes closed westbound East Washington Street between McDowell Boulevard and Southbound off ramp intersection beginning at 2:00 a.m. ending at 5:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday and until 6:00 a.m. on Friday.

Various lanes closed eastbound East Washington Street between McDowell Boulevard and Southbound off ramp intersection beginning at 10:00 p.m. ending at 5:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, on Friday until 6:00 a.m.

Traffic delays are anticipated, and the use of alternate routes is advised when possible. Motorists are also advised that traffic violations in construction zones are subject to double fines. CONSTRUCTION MOVES FORWARD ON NEXT PHASE

OF STATE ROUTE 4 WIDENING PROJECT

eBART BREAKS GROUND FOR ANTIOCH STATION FACILITIES

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY – Caltrans, the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) announced today that work has begun on the next phase of the State Route 4 (SR-4) Widening Project and BART’s new rail service to eastern Contra Costa County.

“The benefits this Proposition 1B funded project will bring to the East Bay are significant.  Commuters will benefit from more transit options less traffic congestion, and the project will boost the local economy by providing jobs,” said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty.

The 2006 voter-approved transportation bond, Proposition 1B, contributed $39 million of the $75 million cost for the Lone Tree Way segment.  In total, five construction projects will widen SR-4, its interchanges, and local roadways from west of Loveridge Road to the State Route 160 interchange. The total cost to widen SR-4 is estimated at $541 million, including $68 million from Proposition 1B.  To date, nearly $14.5 billion in Proposition 1B funds have been distributed statewide. 

“Partnerships between State, federal, and local agencies continue to be the most efficient way to deliver projects on time and on budget,” said Caltrans District 4 Director Bijan Sartipi. “Caltrans will continue to work with our transportation partners to complete all planned improvements.”

Along with the SR-4 widening, BART will simultaneously construct a new parking facility for the future Antioch Station, where high-capacity, trains will transport passengers to the Pittsburg Bay Point Station. 

“I am so pleased to see the many years of cooperative work on this highway and transit project coming together for this event,” said BART Director Joel Keller.  “A groundbreaking in Antioch fulfils some of my dreams as mayor, and will bring satisfaction to East County residents who have been paying BART taxes for so many years. Also, BART's 25 percent local hire goal for this contract will create opportunities for the East County folks to work locally."

After the highway is widened and the parking facility is completed, BART will add a rail service to eastern Contra Costa County in the widened highway’s median. The SR-4 widening and BART project represent a combined investment of more than $1 billion to address one of the most congested corridors in the Bay Area. This new rail service will be funded from Contra Costa’s 2004 transportation sales tax Measure J, $27.7 million  from Proposition 1B, and other local and regional sources.

“Starting these projects is another milestone in our efforts to bring mobility to east county.  We thank Contra Costa’s voters, who passed Measure J to fund transportation improvements along the SR-4 corridor, as well as other key transportation projects in the county,” said Don Tatzin, CCTA Chair.  “This local revenue source makes all the difference in our ability to complete this project on schedule and put Contra Costa residents back to work.”

Lane Closures on State Route 82 in Redwood City

Lane Closures on State Route 82 in Redwood City

  

San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin work on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, through Friday, October 12, 2012 on State Route 82, northbound and southbound in Redwood City between Whipple Avenue and Harbor Boulevard between the hours of 7:00 am. To 4:00 pm.

Crews will be trenching to install conduits as part of the Smart Corridor Project that began in September 2012.

This project will have additional closures as the project moves from Whipple Avenue in Redwood City to State Route 380 in San Bruno. Anticipated completion date is September, 2013.

Two lanes in each direction will remain open to traffic.

Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to use alternate routes. Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Two Day Paving On State Route 35 in Daily City

  

San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin work on Monday, October 8, 2012 and Tuesday, October 9, 2012 to grind and repave the roadway at post mile 26.3 to 28.6 on State Route 35 between Hickey Boulevard and King Drive in Daly City between the hours of 9:30 am. To 3:30 pm.

One way traffic control will be in place with a pilot truck to help guide motorist during construction hours.

Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to use alternate routes. Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Two Lanes Closed-Reopening Estimated 6pm

SOLANO COUNTY – Two lanes of eastbound Interstate 80 just west of the North Texas Street exit in Fairfield remain closed due to a big rig crash.

The estimated time of reopening the lanes is now 6 p.m. due to necessary repairs to the center median.  

Drivers are advised to expect delays and if possible take alternate routes. Caltrans has activated its overhead message signs alerting motorists in the area.

Caltrans to Close San Mateo-Hayward Bridge Over Two Weekends

San Mateo and Alameda Counties – Caltrans will close the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge over two weekends, October 19-22 and October 26-29.  The full closure for all eastbound and westbound lanes will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday and continue until 5:00 a.m. on Monday.  The bridge will be open for the weekday commute.

The full closure will allow crews to install a new seismic joint and replace 60 feet of the bridge deck just east of the high rise.

Commuters are asked to use alternate routes such as the Dumbarton Bridge, San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, or the southern route along Highway 237.

On the eastbound side (Foster City) the on-ramp from Edgewater Boulevard and Metro Center Boulevard will be closed. On the westbound side (Hayward) the on-ramp from Industrial Boulevard and Clawiter Road will be closed. All off-ramps will remain open. Mainline traffic will be guided to exit eastbound 92 at Foster City Boulevard and westbound 92 at Clawiter Road.  One westbound lane may be closed as early as 11 a.m. on Friday.

Changeable message signs will be posted throughout the Bay Area to notify motorist of the upcoming closures.
