GREEN VALLEY ROAD-FAIRFIELD/INTERSTATE-80 OVERCROSSING
Ramps Reopened Ahead of Schedule
Watch for New Approach Lane Configurations
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and its project partner the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) have reopened all the on and off-ramps at eastbound Interstate-80 (I-80) and Green Valley Road in the City of Fairfield in Solano County ahead of schedule.
The Green Valley Road off-ramp from eastbound I-80, the onramp from Green Valley Road onto eastbound I-80 and southbound I-680 were reopened at approximately 6:18 AM Monday, May 23.
The closure allowed crews to complete construction of a permanent roadway connection from the eastbound I-80 Green Valley Road off-ramp to the new Green Valley Road overcrossing above eastbound and westbound I-80. This is a major milestone in the construction of Package 1 of the I-80/I-680/SR-12 Interchange Project.
**Motorists are advised to drive with caution and watch for new traffic lanes and temporary traffic signal lights near the intersection of Green Valley Road and Business Center Drive.
**Starting Monday-May 23
New Lane Configuration on approaches to new Green Valley Road/I-80 Overcrossing
Starting Monday May 23, motorists are advised to watch for new lane configurations on southbound Green Valley Road and westbound Business Center Drive near the Green Valley Road/Business Center Drive intersection.
Southbound Green Valley Road
Motorists are advised that the existing middle traffic lane on southbound Green Valley Road just north of Business Center Drive will be closed until fall 2016. Two existing traffic lanes will remain open on southbound Green Valley Road.
Eastbound Business Center Drive
The existing far left lane of westbound Business Center Drive just east of Green Valley Road will be closed until fall 2016. Motorists traveling from eastbound Business Center Drive to southbound Green Valley Road will make their left turn from one of two remaining traffic lanes on eastbound Business Center Drive.
Project Benefits
With the completion of this weekend’s work, motorists are now able to exit eastbound I-80 at Green Valley Road again, and for the first time travel northbound and southbound on the new Green Valley Road overcrossing above I-80. The new overcrossing also includes new northbound and southbound traffic lanes, a new sidewalk, and a new bicycle lane.
Additional Work to Come
Motorists should expect delays through the construction zone, watch for temporary traffic lanes, temporary traffic signal lights and heavy equipment as additional project work continues.
Crews will now also begin permanently shifting all traffic onto the new Green Valley Road/I-80 overcrossing, demolishing the old Green Valley Road/I-80 overcrossing, and later this year begin shifting traffic on westbound I-80 in preparation of the completion of the new connector structure from westbound I-80 to westbound State Route 12 (SR-12).

Increased Construction Activities resume-September 2015
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and its project partner the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) are continuing work on the Interstate-80/Interstate-680/Highway 12 Interchange Project in Fairfield.
Crews are now performing drainage work near the Green Valley Road/Interstate-80 (I-80) overcrossing. The work requires intermittent daytime lane closures on the overcrossing and its approach on Green Valley Road as heavy equipment enters and exits the construction site. Motorists should watch for flaggers and expect delays.
The drainage work is scheduled to start at 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The water line work on Green Valley Road is scheduled to be completed by the afternoon of Friday, September 4. Crews will return to complete water line work in the vicinity of Green Valley Road at a future date to be announced.
Construction in this area is expected to be ongoing for the next six months. During heavy construction periods, motorists should also consider using alternate routes.
Southbound Green Valley Road/Lopes Road (I-80 overcrossing)
Alternate route:
Motorists heading southbound on Green Valley Road/Lopes Road are advised to use eastbound Business Center Drive, southbound Suisun Valley Road, then southbound on Central Way, eastbound on Old Cordelia Road, and southbound on Lopes Road.
I-80/I-680/Highway-12 Project Improvements:
The work which started in June 2014 is part of the I-80/I-680/Highway-12 Interchange project. During this first phase, a new Green Valley Road overcrossing will be constructed above I-80 about 200 feet east of the existing overcrossing.

I-80/I-680/SR 12 Interchange Project – Fairfield-April 2015 Update

I-80/I-680/SR 12 Interchange Project – Fairfield
Increased Construction Activities resume April 2015
SOLANO COUNTY– Caltrans and its project partner, the Solano Transportation Authority (STA), have completed preliminary false work installation on the new I-80 Green Valley Road Overcrossing. The false work installation completed on April 9th required a full closure on I-80. The preliminary work marks a major milestone in this first package of the Interstate 80/Interstate 680/State Route 12 (I-80/I-680/SR 12) Interchange Project.
Pile-Driving Operations
With the metal beams of the new overcrossing installed, businesses and residents near the construction site may encounter increased noise due to the resumption of daytime pile-driving at the adjacent I-680/I-80 interchange, and the site of the new westbound I-80 to westbound SR 12 connector. Pile-driving is scheduled to resume in mid-April 2015 until fall 2015. Normal pile-driving hours are 9:00AM until 5:00PM Monday-Friday.
Increased Material Import
Motorists and residents near the construction zone may encounter temporary detours, intermittent lane closures, pile-driving, and see increased heavy construction equipment. All work is weather permitting.
Daytime travel delays may also be likely due to increased material hauling activity near Green Valley Road and Business Center Drive starting mid-April 2015. Motorists should watch for flaggers and changeable message signs.
Caltrans will make announcements when detour routes are necessary.
