Spectacular Bay Bridge Images Win Faces of Transportation
                    
OAKLAND-The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Dumbarton Bridge Project is competing with transportation projects nationally including projects from Massachusetts, Indiana, and Georgia.

The Dumbarton Bridge Project is California’s opportunity to capture national recognition as California shows the country how premier transportation projects can improve the lives of all Northern Californians.

The Bay Area project now has less than two days to pull ahead and capture the prestigious America’s Transportation Award sponsored by the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

The winner will be announced during AASHTO’s Annual Meeting on October 21st.

California also grabbed bragging rights as the Bay Bridge project notched three national photography awards from AASHTO in its Faces of Transportation competition.

Caltrans Engineer Martin Chandrawinata won the Grand Prize for his photo of an iron worker using a cutting torch on the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge.

Caltrans photographer Bill Hall won the People’s Choice Award for his photo of Engineer Matt Bruce inspecting the cable band installation near the top of eastern span of the Bay Bridge. Hall’s photo also won AASHTO’s Building the Future category.  The winning photos are posted on: http://facesoftransportation.org/
