J-Mack Ferry Closed Due to Emergency Cable Repairs
Underwater Cable Damaged In Heavy Current   
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has suspended service of the J-Mack Ferry to perform emergency repairs to the underground cable which guides the ferry. The cable snapped during the recent heavy current which included storm debris.
The J-Mack was closed overnight Wednesday, December 4th and will remain closed until further notice. Crews are working to repair the cable and return the ferry to service as soon as possible. 
The J-Mack, also known as the Steamboat Slough Ferry, provides around the clock service on State Route 220 between Ryer Island in Solano County and Grand Island in Sacramento County.
During the closure, motorists are advised to use the Real McCoy Ferry, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry along Highway 84.
