U.S. 101 Construction Projects in Petaluma
Full Freeway Closures Begin for Old Redwood Highway Interchange Project

Petaluma, Sonoma County – This week Caltrans has scheduled ramp and full freeway closures for the U.S. 101 construction project at the Old Redwood Highway Interchange.

Old Redwood Highway Interchange
  • Northbound U.S. 101 will be closed at Old Redwood Highway Interchange Tuesday night, November 12, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour: Exit at Old Redwood Highway, turn right, continue to State Route 116/Gravenstein Highway, and return to northbound U.S. 101.
  • The northbound loop on-ramp from eastbound Old Redwood Highway will be closed Tuesday night, November 12, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound U.S. 101 will be closed at Old Redwood Highway Interchange Wednesday night, November 13, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour: Exit at Petaluma Boulevard N, turn right and continue to E. Washington Street. Turn left on E. Washington Street and continue to southbound U.S. 101.
  • The southbound loop on-ramp from westbound Old Redwood Highway will also be closed Wednesday night, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Real McCoy II Ferry Overnight Closure
For Emergency Repair Tuesday, November 5th at 10 p.m.
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily suspend service of the Real McCoy II Ferry for emergency hydraulic repairs starting Tuesday, November 5th at 10 p.m.  
The Real McCoy II will be taken out of service Tuesday, November 5th at 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6th. All work is weather permitting.    
The Real McCoy II also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the city of Rio Vista in Solano County.
Real McCoy II Ferry Detour
During this service interruption, motorists are advised to use Highway 160 and the J-Mack Ferry along Highway 220.

Westbound and Eastbound Highway 12-Fairfield
Between Pennsylvania Ave and Beck Ave Closed Due to Police Activity
SOLANO COUNTY – Westbound and Eastbound Highway 12 between Pennsylvania Avenue and Beck Avenue in Fairfield remains closed as of 3 p.m. due to police activity. Estimated time of reopening is approximately 5 p.m.
Drivers are advised to expect delays and if possible take alternate routes.
Eastbound Motorists are recommended to use Beck Avenue to West Texas Street to Pennsylvania Avenue as an alternate route, then reenter eastbound Highway 12.
Westbound motorists are recommended to use Pennsylvania Avenue, to West Texas Street to Beck Avenue as an alternate route, then reenter westbound Highway 12.

Weekly Lane Closures for the San Mateo County Route 82
Smart Corridor Project
                         
San Mateo County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled the following lane closures for the week of November 4, 2013, through November 7, 2013 as part of the Route 82 (El Camino Real) Smart Corridor project.

Caltrans crews will install an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) system that provides traffic management tools to manage traffic on local streets and State Route 82. Improvements include, a fiber optic communication system, interconnection of local and State traffic signals, trailblazer signs, message signs, vehicle detection systems and fixed cameras. This system will run from the City of San Bruno to Redwood City.

Partners include: (C/CAG) City and County of Associated Governments of San Mateo County, US Department of Transportation-Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the following Cities, San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City.

Construction is expected to be completed in October, 2014. (Weather Permitting)

U.S. Highway 101 East Washington Street Ramp Project

In Petaluma Northbound U.S.101 Off-Ramp Closure


Sonoma County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is planning to close the northbound U.S. 101 off-ramp to East Washington Street in Petaluma. This closure is necessary in order to perform a lane shift from the right side to the left side of the ramp. The ramp currently supports two lanes and will continue to do so after this closure. The ramp will have four lanes upon completion of the project.   

The closure will begin on Monday, November 4 at 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following day. The ramp will be open to the public on Tuesday, November 5 at 5:00 a.m.

Please drive cautiously through the construction zone and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you. Also, remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

 All Eastbound Lanes Closed in the Caldecott Tunnel


Alameda County- Caltrans closed all Eastbound Lanes on Highway 24 in the Caldecott Tunnel at 10:00am this morning due to a vehicle fire. Caltrans crews have switched the center bore to the eastbound direction as a detour. Traffic is flowing with the assistance of CHP (California Highway Patrol). Fire trucks and a tow truck as well as Caltrans crews are on the scene.

8 Changeable Message Signs have been activated to assist motorist traveling through the area.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes.

Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

One-Way Traffic Control Westbound on Highway 4 in Discovery Bay


Contra Costa County- One way traffic control is still in effect in the Westbound direction on Highway 4 just east of Discover Bay Boulevard in Contra Costa County. The Eastbound lanes are completely blocked from an overturned Big Rig trailer earlier this afternoon. Guardrail repairs are needed as a result of this accident. Crews are expected to open the eastbound direction of traffic by 7:00pm tonight.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes such as Highway 12.

Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
