Girder Installation
Overnight Full Highway Closure
Tuesday, November 28, 2017
NAPA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to install girders for the new State Route 29 (SR-29) Napa River Bridge during the night of Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
The bridge is located on SR-29/Lincoln Avenue in Downtown Calistoga.
One-Way Traffic Controls and Night Closures on SR-29 in Calistoga
During girder installation, one-way traffic controls will be in effect on SR-29 in Calistoga starting Tuesday, November 28 at 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Crews will alternate lane closures in both northbound and southbound directions.
Later that same night, a full highway closure on SR-29 in Calistoga will be in effect starting Tuesday, November 28 at 9:00 PM until Wednesday, November 29 at 7:00 AM.
SR-29 Detours During Night Closures
Motorists traveling southbound SR-29/Lincoln Avenue (from Calistoga towards Napa) will be detoured starting at Washington Street in Calistoga to northbound SR-29, left on Tubbs Lane, onto eastbound SR-128 then re-enter southbound SR-29 from SR-128.
Motorists traveling northbound SR-29 (from Napa towards Calistoga) will be detoured onto the continuation of northbound SR-29 onto westbound SR-128, right onto Tubbs Lane and re-enter northbound SR-29 from Tubbs Lane.
SR-29 Napa River Bridge Project
Construction of the new SR-29 Napa River Bridge started in July 2017. The new bridge replaces the old Napa River Bridge which was in need of replacement after its foundation was scoured due to constant river current. The new bridge is being built in stages allowing motorists to travel on the bridge during construction.
Detours signs will be posted. All work is weather permitting.
Construction of new SR-29 Napa River Bridge in Calistoga could be completed as early as winter 2018.
Caltrans thanks you for your patience as we maintain California’s bridges and highways.
