Overnight Ramp and Connector Closures
Start Thursday, July 28 at 9:00 PM

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and its project partner the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) are nearing completion of construction of the new westbound Interstate 80 (I-80) to westbound State Route 12 (SR-12) connector bridge in Solano County.

As part of the work, crews will need to close some onramps and connectors in the area overnight. The new bridge is part of the 80/680/12 Interchange Project in Fairfield

Westbound I-80 Onramp from Green Valley Road Closed Overnight
The westbound I-80 onramp from Green Valley Road will be temporarily closed on Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29 starting at 9:00PM each night until 4:00AM the following mornings. Motorists will be detoured from Green Valley Road, to Lopes Road, to Red Top Road and back onto westbound I-80 from Red Top Road.

Westbound I-80 Connector to SR-12 Connector Closed Overnight
The westbound I-80 to westbound SR-12 connector will also be temporarily closed on Thursday, July 28 and Friday July 29 starting at 9:00PM each night until 4:00 AM the following mornings. Motorists will continue on westbound I-80 and be directed to exit at Red Top Road, then make a left turn and enter SR-12.

Detour signs will be posted. All work is weather permitting.

Nighttime Lane/Ramp Closures Scheduled for Interstate 80 (I-80) Carquinez Bridge –
July 21 through July 28


Crockett/Vallejo, Calif. – Caltrans is conducting work for a project to resurface Interstate 80 (I-80) across the Carquinez and Zampa Bridges between Crockett in Contra Costa County and Vallejo in Solano County.

The following closures will impact I-80 eastbound and westbound across the Carquinez and Zampa Bridges nightly:


• I-80 EB and WB will have lane reductions from Friday July 22 at 8:00 PM until Saturday July 23 at 6:00 AM.

• I-80 EB and WB will have nightly lane reductions from Monday July 25 through Thursday July 28 from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM the following day.

• The I-80 eastbound on ramp and off ramp at Pomona Street in Crockett may be closed intermittently for the same time periods. Motorists will detour to Cummings Skyway.

SR-84 Real McCoy Ferry Returned to Service July 26

State Route 84-Real McCoy II Ferry Reopened
Emergency Repairs Completed

SOLANO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has returned the Real McCoy II Ferry on State Route 84 to service after performing emergency mechanical repairs to the boat’s propeller assembly.

The Real McCoy resumed regular service at approximately 3:30 PM Tuesday, July 26.

The Real McCoy II also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the city of Rio Vista in Solano County.

The delta region ferry normally runs scheduled crossings every 20 minutes, on the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, and 40 minutes after the hour.

Updates Starting July 25, 2016

NAPA COUNTY – Caltrans and its local stakeholders are continuing construction of the State Route 29 (SR-29) Channelization Project in and near St. Helena in Napa County.
Below is the week-ahead project update for the week of July 25.

WEEK STARTING JULY 25, 2016-Daytime Work
• Sidewalk, curb and gutter work btwn Inglewood Av & El Bonita in southbound shoulder.
Work is 6:00AM to 6:00PM, Mon-Fri. No daytime lane closures scheduled. Shoulder closures are anticipated near Hall Winery. Intermittent one-way traffic flaggers will be present at Grayson Avenue during signal installation.

Night Work
• Hot mix asphalt paving starting btwn Mee Lane & Charter Oak Avenue, in both directions
Work is scheduled 7:00PM to 6:00AM, Monday night through Saturday morning. One-way traffic control, with a delay of up to 5 minutes will be in-place. Driveway access may be limited during these hours. Slow traffic is expected throughout the work zone due to heavy haul trucks.

• Miscellaneous operations throughout the project area including storm water control maintenance and concrete work.

One-Way Traffic Controls-Emergency Deck Repair
Saturday, July 23, 2016

Solano and Sacramento Counties – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform emergency deck repair on the Rio Vista Bridge on State Route 12 (SR-12) between Solano and Sacramento Counties on Saturday, July 23.

The work is scheduled Saturday, July 23 at 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Crews will be making repairs to a bridge expansion joint. All work is weather permitting.

To ensure public and worker safety, one-way traffic controls will be in effect. Crews will alternate lane closures in both eastbound and westbound directions.

This will allow one lane on the bridge to remain open during the work. Flaggers will help direct traffic.

Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.
For boat and ship traffic, the bridge will operate normally for any vessels passing underneath it along the Sacramento River.

Real McCoy II Ferry Closed For Emergency Repairs
Estimated to be Completed By August 2, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has temporarily suspended service of the Real McCoy II Ferry to perform emergency repairs to the boat’s propeller assembly.

The Real McCoy II will be closed Monday, July 18 until Monday, August 2 at 10:00 PM. All work is weather permitting. Caltrans will make an announcement if the repairs can be completed ahead of schedule.

The Real McCoy II also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the city of Rio Vista in Solano County.

The delta region ferry normally runs scheduled crossings every 20 minutes, on the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, and 40 minutes after the hour.

Real McCoy II Ferry Detour
During the service interruption of the Real McCoy Ferry, motorists are advised to use the J-Mack Ferry on State Route 220 or the Miner Slough Bridge on State Route 84 to travel overnight between Ryer Island and neighboring communities in Sacramento and Solano counties.

Intermittent Full Highway Closures
Thursday, July 14

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will continue pavement repair work on eastbound and westbound State Route 12 (SR-12) between Rio Vista and Suisun City on Thursday, July 14.

To ensure public and worker safety, intermittent full highway closures will be in effect on SR-12 between Drouin Drive and Summerset Road in and near Rio Vista beginning Thursday, July 14 starting at 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

During intermittent highway closures, crews will alternate closures on westbound and eastbound SR-12 to allow one-lane of traffic to proceed at a time. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

Please slow for flaggers. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time. All work is weather permitting.

Caltrans Bridge Rail Replacement Project in Los Gatos

Caltrans Bridge Rail Replacement Project in Los Gatos

Santa Clara County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin a project to replace bridge railings at two locations along State Route 9 at (Booker Creek on post mile 3.6 and Highway 9 at (State Route 17) at post mile 11.4. (See Map Below)

The work will involve the removal of bridge railings, metal beam guardrails, saw cutting sidewalk and grinding asphalt both during the day and evening. There will be ramp and freeway closures during this project. Construction will begin on Wednesday, July 6 and continue through October, 2016. Noise is inevitable during this project; however, it will be kept within approved construction standards.

Advance warning changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the area and please “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Below are the closures for this week:

Booker Creek Closures: Wed 7/6 to Saturday 7/9 (one-way traffic control from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

SR-17 Closures: Wed 7/6 to 7/9 from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Work is scheduled 6:00AM to 4:00PM, Mon-Fri. Work between Dowdell Lane and Charter Oak Avenue will occur behind concrete safety barriers. No lane closures scheduled. Slower traffic is anticipated due to the use of heavy equipment. No night work scheduled

WEEK STARTING JULY 10, 2016-Night Work
• Hot mix asphalt paving btwn Dowdell LN & Charter Oak AV in the southbound shoulder
• Temporary concrete barrier removal Dowdell LN & Charter Oak AV (Thur & Fri Nights)

Work is scheduled 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday evening through Saturday morning. Paving work will occur behind concrete safety barriers. Driveway access may be limited. One-way traffic with a delay of up to 5 minutes. Motorists should expect slow traffic. No day work scheduled.
