SB I-680 Marina Vista Off-Ramp to Reopen in Martinez

Southbound I-680 Marina Vista Off-Ramp to Reopen in Martinez

Martinez, Contra Costa County – The Interstate 680 southbound off-ramp at Marina Vista/Waterfront Road in Contra Costa County is scheduled to reopen this Friday morning, October 2 at 6:00 AM. The off-ramp was closed for four months to allow removal of the old structure, including a seismic retrofit of the southbound structure over Marina Vista/Waterfront Road and replacement of the southbound Marina Vista/Waterfront Road off-ramp.

In addition, a one-lane emergency access route was built to connect southbound I-680 with northbound I-680. This access route is intended for use by emergency vehicles if an earthquake results in a closure of southbound I-680. Marina Vista and Waterfront Road remained open during the extended ramp closure.

Starting Monday October 5 following the ramp reopening, the temporary signal system and pedestrian signal heads/push buttons at the Arthur Road detour will be removed.

INTERSTATE 880 HOV LANE PROJECT
98th Avenue to Marina Boulevard Southbound
Nighttime Freeway Lane Closures Planned for Wednesday, September 30

ALAMEDA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is planning a scheduled night time closure of southbound lanes on I-880 starting Wednesday night, September 30, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM and continuing nightly until Wednesday, October 7.

The closures will include multiple I-880 southbound lanes beginning in Oakland at 98th Avenue, and extending south in San Leandro to Marina Boulevard; closure may include off-ramps and on-ramps.

The scheduled closures will allow crews to successfully pave lanes in preparation of opening the newly extended I-880 HOV lane and ramps to and from Davis Street and Marina Boulevard in Alameda County.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute. Please drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and Slow for the Cone Zone.

State Route 237 Pavement Rehab Project-Santa Clara County

STATE ROUTE 237 PAVEMENT REHABILITATION PROJECT

Santa Clara County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is currently grinding and paving a portion of State Route 237 from North Fair Oaks Avenue in Sunnyvale to North First Street overcrossing in San Jose.

The project will also install electrical loop systems on various ramps. The project is expected to be completed in November, 2015.

There will be intermittent ramp lane and ramp closures throughout the project; however, Caltrans will never close two consecutive ramp. The work schedule starts on Sunday evenings no earlier than 7:00 p.m. and ends by 5:00 a.m. on Friday mornings. Caltrans will provide at least one open lane at all times.

The schedule for next week is as follows:

State Route 29-Channelization Project-Napa County
Updates for week starting Sunday, September 27

NAPA COUNTY – Caltrans and its local stakeholders have started construction of the State Route 29 (SR-29) Channelization Project in and near St. Helena in Napa County.

There will be limited project-related utility work starting Sunday, September 27 until Friday, October 2.

AT&T will perform work within the project limits to remove remaining utility poles and abandoned underground cabling. This work was originally intended for the week starting September 13, 2015 but has been moved to the week of September 27.

Daytime Work-Starting Sunday, September 27
AT&T will remove remaining utility poles and abandoned underground cabling from Zinfandel Avenue to charter Oak Avenue. Work will be primarily in the southbound shoulder. Hours of work are 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

Site maintenance work will be performed daily by Caltrans contractors from 7:00 AM until 3:30 PM between Mee Lane to Stice Lane. Work includes storm water pollution prevention and site management. Work will not require any traffic lane closures.
No night work is scheduled this week.

Interstate 80-Vallejo, Vacaville, and Fairfield
Ramp Meters to be activated September 28

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in coordination with the Solano Transportation Authority (STA), and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) are scheduled to activate ramp meters on Interstate 80 (I-80) in Vallejo, Vacaville, and Fairfield on Monday, September 28.

This second stage of ramp meter activation in Solano County includes on-ramp locations on eastbound and westbound I-80 between Redwood Street in Vallejo and Interstate 505 (I-505) in Vacaville.

The first stage of ramp meters on eastbound I-80 between Red Top Road and North Texas Street in Fairfield were activated in February 2014.

Ramp Meter Operational Hours-I-80 Vallejo and Vacaville
The ramp meters in Vallejo and Vacaville will be activated with the following schedule:

Afternoon commute Eastbound I-80: Meters will be solid green beginning September 28 from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM. They will begin operating red-green October 6 on Mondays through Thursdays from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and Fridays from 2:00 PM until at least 7:00 PM on Fridays. Outside of these peak hours, meters remain on solid green from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM unless heavy traffic congestion occurs. During heavy traffic, meters will operate red-green.

Morning commute Westbound I-80: Meters will be solid green Mondays through Friday beginning October 4 from 5:00 AM until 10:00 AM. They will remain green unless heavy traffic occurs.

Sunday afternoon Westbound I-80: Meters will be solid green beginning October 4 at 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM. They will begin operating red-green from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM October 18, and remain on solid green outside of these hours from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

What is Ramp Metering?
Ramp metering is a traffic management strategy using traffic signals and accompanying equipment and techniques to manage onramp flow on the freeway system.

Drivers entering I-80 where ramp meters are activated should stop at red and wait until the metering light turns green to enter I-80.

State Route 128-Sonoma County- Night Closures-Sept 23

PROJECT UPDATE
State Route 128 Night Closures Continue on Wednesday, September 23

SONOMA COUNTY –Caltrans will close State Route 128 west of Cloverdale on Wednesday night, September 23, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

These closures are necessary in order to place steel piles for a retaining wall project approximately 1.4 miles west of the three-way intersection of North Cloverdale Boulevard, North Redwood Highway, and Oat Valley Road, and approximately 2.4 miles east of the Mendocino County line.

Closure Schedule
State Route 128 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the following days:
• Wednesday night, September 23

Detour: During the night closures, motorists will be detoured to State Route 253. When traveling from Cloverdale to Boonville, the detour adds approximately 16 miles and 20 minutes of additional travel time.

For all other hours, one-way reversing traffic control will continue until the project is complete in mid-October 2015, and motorists should expect delays when traveling through the construction zone.

If this work is delayed due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for a later time. Please drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and Slow for the Cone Zone.

As part of the project, the westbound I-80 onramp from Green Valley Road will be closed during three consecutive nights starting Friday, September 25 at 11:00 PM
while crews install water lines. To ensure worker and public safety, the westbound I-80 onramp from Green Valley Road will be closed at the following times:

US 101 Project- Petaluma Blvd S. 24hr Closure-Sept 27 -SonomaCo.

Petaluma, Sonoma County – On Sunday, September 27, Caltrans will close Petaluma Boulevard South under U.S. Route 101 for 24 hours in order to complete demolition of the former southbound bridge. This work is taking place in one 24-hour period to avoid several nights of road closures. Residents may notice increased noise from equipment and mandatory backup alarms.

• Petaluma Boulevard South under U.S. Route 101 will close Sunday morning, September 27, at 5 a.m. and reopen on Monday morning, September 28, at 5 a.m.

o Demolition will be complete by midnight on September 27. The remaining time will be spent in cleanup prior to reopening Petaluma Boulevard South.

o Detour for the Kastania area, Petaluma Boulevard South Park & Ride Lot, and businesses southeast of the closure: Northbound U.S. Route 101 traffic that usually exits at Petaluma Boulevard South will be detoured to the next exit at State Route 116/Lakeville Highway, cross under the freeway, take the southbound U.S. Route 101 on-ramp, and continue to the Petaluma Boulevard South off-ramp. Note: the Petaluma Boulevard South off-ramp will reopen prior to the closure of Petaluma Boulevard South.

o Detour for Quarry Heights and destinations west or southwest of the closure: Exit at State Route 116 in Petaluma, go west on Lakeville Street, left on East D Street, left on Petaluma Boulevard South, and continue to your destination.

If this work is cancelled due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled. Please drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and Slow for the Cone Zone. The California Highway Patrol will be on site during closures.

Culvert Replacement Projects on State Route 1 North of Jenner

Sonoma County – Caltrans has two culvert replacement projects on State Route 1 north of Jenner. A culvert is a drainage pipe that crosses under the highway.

The first project is located about ten miles north of Jenner at Timber Gulch Creek. One way traffic signals have been activated at this location. Pipe ramming of a 9 ft. diameter steel casing will begin Wednesday morning, September 16, and will continue for about two weeks, weather permitting. Motorists may not see the large hammer work taking place below the roadway but will hear increased noise as they travel through the area. This is a very loud construction activity that will take place seven days per week, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The second culvert replacement project is located between Salt Point State Park and Stewarts Point. Construction is expected to begin on or after September 21 and continue for about one month. Construction activities include shoulder closures and one-way traffic control, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. If necessary, work will also be scheduled on weekends.

For all construction projects, please follow the direction of flaggers, drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

I-680 Rehab Project- Northbound Lane Reduction Starts Sept 20

Between Fairfield and Benicia-Update September 20 – September 25
Northbound I-680 Paving Work

SOLANO COUNTY – Caltrans is continuing construction of the Interstate 680 (I-680) Rehabilitation Project in Solano County which will rehabilitate and repave approximately 13 miles of northbound and southbound I-680 between Fairfield and Benicia.

Although no full highway closures are scheduled at this time, motorists may experience delays as crews work to repave I-680 with intermittent, overnight, alternating ramp and lane closures. Specific ramp closure and detour signs will be posted. All work is weather permitting. The project will be completed as early as spring 2016.

I-680 Construction - Sunday September 20 until Friday September 25
Starting Sunday September 20 until Friday September 25 crews are scheduled to resume paving work on northbound I-680 nightly, Mondays through Fridays, between Fairfield and Benicia.

Motorists should drive with caution as they may encounter some uneven sections of roadway as construction continues.

To ensure worker and public safety, one of the two traffic lanes on northbound
I-680 between Fairfield & Benicia will be closed nightly, Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 PM until 4:00 AM the following mornings.

Final paving work on southbound I-680 will resume at a later date.

Real McCoy II Ferry Closed For Overnight Maintenance
Starting Thursday, September 17 at 10:00 PM

SOLANO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily suspend service of the Real McCoy II Ferry to perform routine preventive maintenance. The Real McCoy II is scheduled to be closed Thursday, September 17 at 10:00 PM until the morning of Friday, September 18 at 4:00 AM. All work is weather permitting.

The Real McCoy II also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the city of Rio Vista in Solano County.

The delta region ferry normally runs scheduled crossings every 20 minutes, on the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, and 40 minutes after the hour.

During Thursday’s overnight service interruption, motorists are advised to use the J-Mack Ferry or the Miner Slough Bridge on Highway 84 to travel overnight between Ryer Island and neighboring communities in Sacramento and Solano Counties.

CALTRANS and CHP LITTER ENFORCEMENT DAY – September 16, 2015

WHAT: Caltrans and the CHP will conduct the third quarterly Litter Enforcement Day on tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Caltrans crews in the Bay Area will sweep and remove graffiti and litter alongside the highways. The CHP Commercial Mobile Road Enforcement units will conduct litter enforcement and educate drivers to cover their loads.
“The California Highway Patrol and Caltrans share a commitment to continually improve transportation in California. The combined support from Caltrans, CHP, and local communities on litter enforcement days emphasizes how much we value safe, clean highways,” says CHP Chief Paul Fontana.

PROJECT UPDATE
State Route 128 Night Closures Continue on Thursday, September 17

SONOMA COUNTY –Caltrans will close State Route 128 west of Cloverdale on Thursday night, September 17, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. These closures are necessary in order to place steel piles for a retaining wall project approximately 1.4 miles west of the three-way intersection of North Cloverdale Boulevard, North Redwood Highway, and Oat Valley Road, and approximately 2.4 miles east of the Mendocino County line.

Closure Schedule
State Route 128 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the following days:
• Thursday night, September 17.
• Full closures are expected to be scheduled for the week of September 21. An update will be sent as soon as this work is scheduled.

Detour: During the night closures, motorists will be detoured to State Route 253. When traveling from Cloverdale to Boonville, the detour adds approximately 16 miles and 20 minutes of additional travel time.

For all other hours, one-way reversing traffic control will continue until the project is complete in mid-October 2015, and motorists should expect delays when traveling through the construction zone.

If this work is delayed due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for a later time. Please drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and Slow for the Cone Zone.

State Route 29 - Channelization Project - Napa County
Updates September 11 until September 18

NAPA COUNTY – Caltrans and local stakeholders are continuing construction of the State Route 29 (SR-29) Channelization Project in and near St. Helena in Napa County.

Daytime work – Friday September 11 until Friday September 18
AT&T is scheduled to remove remaining utility poles and abandoned underground cabling from Zinfandel Avenue to Charter Oak Avenue. Work will be primarily on the southbound shoulder. Work will be performed under a lane shift when necessary. Work is scheduled 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM. This work is being done under a utilities permit.

Site maintenance work will be performed daily by Caltrans contractors from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM for areas from Mee Lane to Stice Lane. This work will not require any type of closures and should have no effect on traffic. No night work is scheduled for this week.

*Major roadwork requiring lane closures will be restricted during the harvest season period starting August 15 and ending October 15. PG&E, railroad signal relocation work and maintenance and site cleanup work will continue throughout this period.

Roadway Repair Project to Begin Sunday Night on State Route 121
Sonoma County

Sonoma County – On Sunday night, September 13, Caltrans will begin a roadway repair project on State Route (SR) 121, beginning at the SR 37 junction and continuing to State Route 12. During this work there will be one-way traffic control with flaggers and a pilot car, Sunday night through Thursday night, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

This work will continue through the end of October while the contractor repairs portions of the roadway, removes old pavement, and repaves. Construction activities will be completed at night, and residents may experience increased noise as the contractor works through the area.

Please drive cautiously through the construction zone, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

State Route 237 Pavement Rehab Project Updates-September 11

STATE ROUTE 237 PAVEMENT REHABILITATION PROJECT

Santa Clara County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has started a project in Santa Clara County to grind and repave a portion of State Route 237 from North Fair Oaks Avenue in Sunnyvale to North First Street overcrossing in San Jose. The project will also install electrical loop systems on various ramps. The project is expected to be completed in November, 2015.

There will be intermittent ramp lane and ramp closures throughout the project; however, Caltrans will never close two consecutive ramp. The work schedule starts on Sunday evenings no earlier than 7:00 p.m. and ends by 5:00 a.m. on Friday mornings. Caltrans will provide at least one open lane at all times.

The schedule for next week is as follows:

Sunday 9/13 (No work is scheduled)

Monday 9/14 (No work is scheduled)

Tuesday 9/15 (8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.)

Wednesday 9/16 (8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.)

Thursday 917 (8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.)


There will be some noise during the grinding operation; however, it will be kept within approved construction noise levels.

Northbound State Route 121- Detours Start September 14, 2015
Updated Project Dates and Hours

NAPA COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is working closely with PG&E and other local utility providers to relocate utilities during preliminary work on the State Route 121 (SR-121) Sarco Creek Bridge Replacement Project. Construction of the replacement bridge is scheduled to start in early 2017.

As part of this month’s preliminary work, Northbound State Route 121 (SR-121) at the Sarco Creek Bridge in Napa County will be closed for approximately six weeks starting September 14, 2015 to underground gas utility lines near and at the bridge. The gas line relocation work is preliminary work for the upcoming SR-121 Sarco Creek Bridge Replacement Project. Construction of the replacement bridge is scheduled to start in early 2017.

What to Expect
Northbound SR-121 closure starts Monday, September 14, 2015 thru Sunday, October 25, 2015.
Detour signs will be posted. All work is weather, schedule permitting.

Northbound-121 Closure Detour Routes
Motorists traveling on northbound SR-29 will be detoured starting at the SR-121/SR-221 interchange.
Motorists will continue to travel on northbound SR-29, then eastbound onto Trancas Street, then re-enter northbound SR-121 from Trancas Street. Detour signs and Changeable Message Signs will be posted.
Additional detours will be provided through W. Imola Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.

Northbound SR-121 will remain open up to Hagen Road for local traffic only. Northbound traffic will not be allowed onto the bridge during the work. Southbound SR-121 will remain open.

80/680/12 Interchange Project - Fairfield - Sept 2015 Updates

Interstate-80/Interstate-680/Highway 12 Interchange Project-Fairfield
Increased Construction Activities resume-September 2015

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and its project partner the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) are continuing work on the Interstate-80/Interstate-680/Highway 12 Interchange Project in Fairfield.

Crews are now performing drainage work near the Green Valley Road/Interstate-80 (I-80) overcrossing. The work requires intermittent daytime lane closures on the overcrossing and its approach on Green Valley Road as heavy equipment enters and exits the construction site. Motorists should watch for flaggers and expect delays.

The drainage work is scheduled to start at 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The water line work on Green Valley Road is scheduled to be completed by the afternoon of Friday, September 4. Crews will return to complete water line work in the vicinity of Green Valley Road at a future date to be announced.

Construction in this area is expected to be ongoing for the next six months. During heavy construction periods, motorists should also consider using alternate routes.

Southbound Green Valley Road/Lopes Road (I-80 overcrossing)
Alternate route:
Motorists heading southbound on Green Valley Road/Lopes Road are advised to use eastbound Business Center Drive, southbound Suisun Valley Road, then southbound on Central Way, eastbound on Old Cordelia Road, and southbound on Lopes Road.

I-80/I-680/Highway-12 Project Improvements:
The work which started in June 2014 is part of the I-80/I-680/Highway-12 Interchange project. During this first phase, a new Green Valley Road overcrossing will be constructed above I-80 about 200 feet east of the existing overcrossing.

J-Mack Ferry-Mandatory Routine Maintenance Work
Overnight Scheduled Closure
Thursday, September 3, 2015 starting at 10:00 PM


SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the J-Mack Ferry in the Delta overnight for routine preventive maintenance.

The J-Mack is closed to close starting Thursday, September 3 at 10:00 PM until Friday, September 4 at 4:00 AM.

Crews will perform routine preventive maintenance on the ferry’s cable wheels.

The J-Mack Ferry runs on a cable across Steamboat Slough between Ryer Island in Solano County and Sacramento County.

The J-Mack, provides around the clock service on State Route 220.
During the closure, motorists are advised to use the Real McCoy Ferry, also known as the Cache Slough Ferry along State Route 84.
