Roadway Closed Due to Power Lines Down

SOLANO and SACRAMENTO COUNTIES – Eastbound and westbound State Route 220 (SR-220) between State Route 160 (SR-160) and the J-Mack Ferry slip remains closed as of 4:45 PM on Tuesday, December 30 due to power lines down.

The affected section of SR-220 is located in Sacramento County near the Sacramento County/Solano County line.
Caltrans estimates reopening the roadway on Tuesday December 30 at approximately 11:59PM.

All Lanes Blocked Due to Power Lines Down


SOLANO COUNTY – As of 3:35 PM, all eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate-80 between Tennessee and Redwood Streets remain closed due to power lines in the roadway. Caltrans crews are responding.

At this time, there is no estimated time of reopening.

Eastbound traffic is being detoured at Tennessee Street.
Westbound traffic is being detoured at Redwood Street.

Real McCoy II Ferry Closed For Overnight Maintenance-Starting Tuesday, December 23 at 10:00 PM

SOLANO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily suspend service of the Real McCoy II Ferry to perform routine preventive maintenance. The Real McCoy II is scheduled to be closed Tuesday, December 23 at 10:00 PM until the morning of Wednesday, December 24 at 4:00 AM. All work is weather permitting.

The Real McCoy II also known as the Cache Slough Ferry, provides regular service on State Route 84 between Ryer Island and the city of Rio Vista in Solano County.
The delta region ferry normally runs scheduled crossings every 20 minutes, on the hour, 20 minutes after the hour, and 40 minutes after the hour.

During Thursday’s service interruption, motorists are advised to use Highway 160 and the J-Mack Ferry along Highway 220.

I-680 Connector and I-80 On-Ramp Overnight Closures
Tuesday, December 23

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and its project partner the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) are continuing work on the Interstate-80/Interstate-680/Highway 12 Interchange Project in Fairfield.

On Tuesday, December 23, crews will repair construction signs on I-80, re-stripe traffic lanes at the Green Valley Road Onramp, and replace crash cushion barrels on the eastbound I-80 connector to southbound I-680.

Eastbound I-80 to southbound I-680 connector closures:
To ensure worker and public safety, the eastbound I-80 connector to southbound I-680 will be closed starting Tuesday, December 23 at 7:00 PM until Wednesday, December 24 at 5:00 AM

Eastbound I-80 to southbound I-680 connector detour:
Motorists headed onto southbound I-680 from eastbound I-80 will be detoured to the Green Valley Road exit, then turn right onto Lopes Road/Green Valley road, then turn left on Gold Hill Road, then turn right onto southbound I-680.

Westbound I-80 Onramp at Green Valley Road -Overnight Closure
As part of the work, the westbound I-80 onramp at Green Valley Road will also be closed Tuesday, December 23 at 11:00 PM until Wednesday, December 24 at 4:00 AM.

Westbound State Route 37—Just West of Mare Island
Speed Reduced to 35 MPH during Construction Work


SOLANO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is performing paving work on westbound State Route 37 (SR-37) just west of Mare Island between Solano and Sonoma Counties for two consecutive days starting Monday, December 22.

The work is scheduled Monday, December 22, and Tuesday, December 23 from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM both days.

For worker and public safety, the shoulders on westbound SR-37 will be closed, and signs cautioning drivers to the reduced speed limit of 35 miles per hour in the work zone will be posted.

Please remember to “slow for the cone zone” and if possible, “move over” when you see crews working on California highways.

Culinan Ranch Wetland Restoration Project-Addition Information
The SR-37 work is related to the Cullinan Ranch Wetland Restoration Project. The Culinan project is a wildlife conservation project which will breech the levees near SR-37. The project site is adjacent to SR-37.

The wetland restoration is a joint project by Ducks Unlimited, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the California Department of Fish and Game, and several other area agencies.

State Route 160-Paintersvile Bridge
Closure and Detours during Emergency Repairs
Thursday, December 17

SACRAMENTO COUNTY– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has temporarily closed the State Route 160-Paintersville Bridge in Sacramento County near the Delta town of Courtland due to emergency repairs.

The drawbridge currently remains in the open position due to a mechanical malfunction
As of 4:00 PM Thursday, December 17, there is no estimated time of reopening.

Caltrans will notify the public once a time is determined when the bridge will be open and operational.

The State Route 160-Paintersville Bridge is located on the Sacramento River near the Delta town of Courtland in Sacramento County.

Temporary Detours at SR-160-Paintersville Bridge:
Southbound SR-160 traffic will be detoured at the bridge to River Road.

Northbound SR-160 traffic will be detoured at the bridge to northbound on River Road towards Courtland.

Boaters should contact the U.S Coast Guard ahead of time to schedule waterway crossings under the bridge. Crossings must be approved ahead of time.

Mandatory Emergency Response Drill

To Be Rescheduled in 2015


ALAMEDA and CONTRA COSTA COUNTIES – Due to the recent severe weather in the San Francisco Bay Area, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has postponed the Mandatory Emergency Response Drill at the State Route 24 (SR-24) Caldecott Tunnel for the remainder of 2014.

Caltrans will strategize during the first part of January 2015 to select a date to include all of the coordinated participants, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP), local fire districts, and first responders.

Caltrans will notify the public when a new 2015 date is finalized.

Remember, use headlights with wipers. And, drive with caution when raining.


“Move over” for Caltrans crews working on the shoulders. It’s the law.

Highway 1 Closure in Marin County



Marin County– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has closed a portion of State Highway 1 between Panoramic Highway and Muir Woods Road in Marin County.

Northbound traffic on Highway 1 will be detoured at Panoramic Highway. Travelers heading for Stinson Beach and beyond will stay on Panoramic Highway until they reach Highway 1. Travelers heading for Muir Beach will take Panoramic Highway to Muir Woods Road, and then will head south on Muir Woods Road to Muir Beach. Local businesses in Muir Beach will remain open during the closure.

The recent winter storm has washed away much of the soil beneath a portion of the road, leaving it unsafe for travel. Caltrans crews are currently formulating a repair plan.

Mandatory Emergency Drill-Overnight Partial Tunnel Closure
Friday, December 12 at 10:00 PM

ALAMEDA COUNTY and CONTRA COSTA COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will conduct its annual mandatory emergency response drill at the State Route 24 (SR-24) – Caldecott Tunnels, Westbound, between Oakland and Orinda.

The mandatory emergency response drill begins Friday, December 12 at 10:00 PM and concludes Saturday, December 13 at 4:00 AM.

The exercise is scheduled rain or shine. In the event of a major emergency, Caltrans will notify the public if the exercise is cancelled beforehand.

For the safety of crews and the public, Bore 4 will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Bore 3 during the drill. Bores 1 and 2 will remain open during the exercise. Traffic control and message signs will be provided ahead of the tunnel bores to help direct motorists.

The emergency management exercise will be a coordinated effort including the CHP, Oakland Fire Department, Moraga-Orinda Fire District, and Caltrans Staff. During this exercise, there will be fire simulation, crash simulation, and simulated smoke. Motorists should expect delays and plan for extra travel time.

Full Highway Closure on State Route 1 at Manor Drive in Pacifica (San Mateo County)

San Mateo County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close both southbound lanes on State Route 1 at Post Mile 45.1, at Manor Drive in Pacifica on December 7, 2014, early Sunday morning from 3:00 am to 7:00 am. To ensure public and worker safety, this full closure is necessary to remove a rusted overhead sign with a crane.

Detour:
Traffic should exit at southbound Monterey Road; follow Palmetto Avenue on city streets back onto southbound Palmetto Avenue on-ramp to State Route 1.

Portable Message signs have been placed prior to the construction area to warn motorist of the upcoming closure.

Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to use alternate routes. Please be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

State Route 82 (El Camino Real) San Mateo County-Tree Removal and One-Way Traffic controls Start Dec 8

Tree Removal on State Route 82 (El Camino Real) in the Cities of Burlingame and Hillsborough (San Mateo County)

San Mateo County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to remove approximately eleven trees on State Route 82 (El Camino Real) in the northbound and southbound direction along the Howard-Ralston Tree Row, between Ray Drive and Sanchez Avenue, in the cities of Burlingame and Hillsborough in San Mateo County. Ten Elm trees and a Eucalyptus tree will be removed, as part of the removal; Caltrans proposes replanting with disease-resistant elms.

The trees have been identified as diseased, dead, or dying and could pose a potential hazard to passing motorists, and pedestrians if not removed.

The tree removal is scheduled to start in the southbound direction on Monday, December 8 through December 12. The northbound direction tree removal is tentatively scheduled for the week of Monday, December 15 through December 19.

Work will start each day Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (All work is weather permitting).

To ensure worker and public safety during the work, one-way traffic controls will be implemented to help guide motorist through the area.

During one-way traffic controls, flaggers will alternate traffic on northbound and southbound State Route 82. (El Camino Real) One lane will remain open at all times. However, motorists should allow for extra travel time and expect minor delays.

NOTE: The week of December 15 through December 19, the southbound Howard Avenue & El Camino Real bus stop will be closed.

ROAD CLOSURE AT STATE ROUTES 12 and 121 DUE TO FLOODING

SONOMA COUNTY –This morning at approximately 10 a.m. Caltrans closed access to the intersection of State Route 12 and 121 due to flooding. The intersection and access roads in the area will be closed until flooding has abated. Check 511.org for an estimated time for opening.

Road Closures
Caltrans has currently closed three access points to the SR 12/121 intersection. Road closures are in place at:

• SR 116 and Arnold Drive
• SR 121 and A Street
• SR 12 at Watmaugh Road

Follow directions of maintenance workers and follow detour signs to reach your destination. The California Highway Patrol will be on site for traffic enforcement. Please remember to Slow for the Cone Zone.
