FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westbound Interstate-80 Zampa Bridge-Overnight Lane Closures Start Friday, November 7 at 8 p.m.

SOLANO and CONTRA COSTA COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform expansion joint maintenance work on the westbound Interstate-80 (I-80) Zampa Bridge in Solano and Contra Costa Counties.

Crews will remove and replace one of the support beams underneath the northern bridge expansion joint, and repair as needed the adjacent expansion joint rails. No steel plates will be used when lanes are opened to traffic. This work is routine maintenance, and is not related to last August’s Napa Earthquake. Vessels will pass normally beneath the bridge on the Carquinez Strait.
The two consecutive weekends, and three weekday nights of work start November 7.

For worker and public safety, up to 3 of 4 traffic lanes of westbound I-80 on the Zampa Bridge will be closed during the following hours:

Friday, November 7 at 8 p.m. until Saturday, November 8 at 7 a.m.
Saturday, November 8 at 11 p.m. until Sunday, November 9 at 9 a.m.

Starting Tuesday, November 11 until Thursday, November 13, various lane closures will be in effect Tuesday through Thursday at 8 p.m. until the following mornings at 5 a.m.
