FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STATE
ROUTE 17 DRAIN SYSTEM UPGRADES
Santa Clara County - The California Department of
Transportation (Caltrans) will start a project this week to upgrade a highway drainage
system and repair slopes along State Route 17 in Santa Clara County from .3
mile south of Alma College to .2 mile north of Bear Creek Road overcrossing.
- On State Route 17, construction will close
one lane and leave one lane open during the weekday night time from 9:00 p.m.
to 5:00 a.m. in the northbound direction and 11:00 p.m. to 5 a.m. in the
southbound direction.
- On Old
Santa Cruz Highway, construction will close one lane during the weekday day
time from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and perform one-way traffic control with
flaggers directing traffic.
Construction noise will be unavoidable;
however, it will be kept within approved construction noise levels.
Motorists can
expect some delays, but flaggers and CHP will be on the job site to assist
traffic flow. In addition, traffic signs will be in place throughout the
construction area. The project will be completed in late summer, 2014.
