Weekend Closures Cancelled for State Highway 160 due to wet Weather Forecast

SACRAMENTO COUNTY – The threat of more wet weather has prompted the cancellation of overnight closures for this week and part of next week on State Highway 160 between Rio Vista and Antioch, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today. Three Mile Slough Bridge will be open until at least Friday, March 14.

Work started February 3 on the $2.98 million project at Three Mile Slough Bridge to replace the bridge deck and rehabilitate the control house. The contractor has been authorized for up to 55 consecutive nights of closures to complete the work. Caltrans advises local motorists and residents to follow us on social media for the latest schedule updates.

The highway is scheduled to be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. at Wilbur Avenue, south of the Antioch Toll Bridge, and at the junction with State Highway 12 in Rio Vista, weather permitting. Roadside message boards will be used to alert motorists of the closures and signed detours will be in place, but some motorists may need to drive as much as an additional 80 miles, or about two extra hours, to reach their destination.

State Highway 160 Weekend Closures Cancelled

SACRAMENTO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced the cancellation of this weekend’s overnight closures on State Highway 160 between Rio Vista and Antioch. The Three Mile Slough Bridge will remain open Friday, February 21 through Saturday, February 22.

The $2.98 million bridge deck and control house rehabilitation project at Three Mile Slough Bridge will resume construction Sunday evening at 8 p.m. Caltrans advises motorists and local residents to follow us on social media for the latest updates.

Over the next two months, the highway is scheduled to be closed daily from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. at Wilbur Avenue, south of the Antioch Toll Bridge, and at the junction with State Highway 12. Roadside message boards will be used to alert motorists of the closures and signed detours will be in place, but some motorists may need to drive as much as an additional 80 miles, or about two extra hours, to reach their destination. The schedule is subject to change due to unexpected events or weather.

Highway 160-Paving Work In The Delta  

One Way Traffic Controls In Effect Starting October 22^nd

SACRAMENTO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin three days of paving work on Highway 160 in the Delta starting Tuesday, October 22^nd until Thursday, October 24^th.

The paving work will include sections of Highway 160 in Sacramento County between Highway 12 and Brannan Island State Park.  

For worker and public safety, one-way traffic controls are scheduled Tuesday, October 22^nd, Wednesday, October 23^rd, and Thursday, October 24^th.

During one-way traffic controls, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times, with crews alternating traffic in the northbound and southbound directions. Traffic on Highway 160 will be reduced to one-lane starting each day at 8:30 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m. each day.

Flaggers and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will help direct traffic. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time. Work is weather permitting.

                                         Delays Following Big Rig Crash

SACRAMENTO COUNTY – The southbound lanes of State Route 160 near Sherman Island Cross Road in the Delta remain closed as of 10 a.m. following a big rig crash.

One-way traffic controls are in effect with crews alternating traffic southbound traffic in the northbound lanes.

Crews estimate reopening the lanes at approximately 11 a.m. Motorists should expect delays and avoid the area if possible.

SOLANO COUNTY – Highway 12 in the Delta Region remains closed in both eastbound and westbound directions between Highway 160 and the Mokelumne River Bridge due to a deadly big rig accident. Crews are estimating possibly reopening the highway at 1 p.m.

As of 8 a.m, the CHP has closed the exits onto Highway 12 from Interstate 5. Caltrans has activated its changeable message signs alerting motorists in the area. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to take alternate routes.
