State Route 1-Tom Lantos Tunnels
Traffic Shift Beginning Wednesday, October 22

SAN MATEO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will need to perform electrical work in the southbound Tom Lantos Tunnels on State Route 1 in San Mateo County.

To ensure worker and public safety, beginning Wednesday, October 22, 2014, all southbound traffic will be shifted onto the shoulder between the hours of 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. Southbound traffic will be able to proceed on the shoulder through the tunnel during the work.

NOTE: Cones will be removed at the end of the construction day and traffic shifted back to the southbound lane.

Northbound electrical work will be performed at a later date. This work is scheduled until January, 2015.

All work is weather permitting. Motorists should allow for extra travel time.
