FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Interstate-80/Interstate-680/Highway 12 Interchange Project-Fairfield
Green
Valley Road/I-80 Overcrossing
Heavy
Construction-Expect Delays
SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and its project partner
the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) are continuing work on the Interstate-80/Interstate-680/Highway
12 Interchange Project in Fairfield.
Crews are now working on
dirt excavation near the Green Valley Road/Interstate-80 (I-80) overcrossing. The work
requires intermittent daytime lane closures on the overcrossing as heavy
equipment enters and exits the construction site. Motorists should watch for
flaggers and expect delays.
Construction in this
area is expected to be ongoing for the next 6-12 months. During heavy construction periods, motorists
should also consider using alternate routes.
Southbound Green Valley Road/Lopes Road (I-80
overcrossing)
Alternate route:
Motorists heading
southbound on Green Valley Road/Lopes Road are advised to use eastbound
Business Center Drive, to southbound Suisun Valley Road, then southbound on
Central Way, then eastbound on Old Cordelia Road, then southbound on Lopes
Road.
I-80/I-680/Highway-12 Project Improvements:
The work which started
in June is part of the I-80/I-680/Highway-12 Interchange project. During this first phase, a new Green
Valley Road overcrossing will be constructed above I-80 about 200 feet east of
the existing overcrossing. The new overcrossing will have twice the number of
lanes (4) as the existing overcrossing (2), along with a new on ramp to westbound
I-80/Highway-12. The connector ramp from westbound I-80 to Highway-12 also will
be widened from one lane to two lanes.
Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to improve California’s
highways.
