Westbound Interstate 80 Onramp at Alamo Drive in Vacaville
Onramp Closure Postponed to Thurs, Dec 12th

                                      Weather Too Cold to Pave

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is now scheduled to pave the westbound Interstate 80 onramp from Alamo Drive in Vacaville on Thursday, December 12th instead of Tuesday, December 10th and Wednesday, December 11th.

The work originally scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday has been postponed due to the cold temperatures. Crews need temperatures to be above 50 degrees to pave.

The work is part of the Interstate 80 (I-80) Solano Ramp Metering Project on eastbound and westbound I-80 between Vallejo and Vacaville. The work at Alamo Drive and westbound I-80 will complete the widening of that onramp from one to two lanes.

To ensure worker and public safety, the following detours will be in effect on Thursday, December 12th starting at 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. All work is weather permitting. Motorists should allow for extra travel time. Detour signs will be posted:

Westbound I-80 Onramp Detour from southbound Alamo Drive:
Motorists entering westbound I-80 from southbound Alamo Drive will be directed to continue southbound on Alamo, then enter eastbound I-80 from Alamo, and exit northbound Davis Street, then re-enter westbound I-80 from northbound Davis Street.

Westbound I-80 Onramp Detour from northbound Alamo Drive:
Motorists entering westbound I-80 from northbound Alamo Drive will be directed to head northbound on Merchant Street, then eastbound on Mason, then southbound on Davis Street, then westbound on Hickory Lane, then enter westbound I-80 from Hickory.

I-80 Solano Ramp Metering Project
Since April, crews have widened ramps, installed ramp meters, and installed closed circuit TV cameras at approximately 60 sites along 25-miles of I-80 from Vallejo to Vacaville. The $12.8 million project is scheduled to be completed in spring 2014. Caltrans and several agencies including the Solano Transportation Agency (STA) are still determining when to activate ramp meters in Solano County.

Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to improve our highways.
